Demography and sustainability: how are things?

Until recent times demographic growth seems unstoppable. However, the population explosion is about to end. I went looking for a good source of statistics on world demographics such as "Our world in data" (ourworldindata...) and found that the data indicates that humanity has already entered a "demographic transition" that will put an end to the danger of growth explosive demographic. Finally, trends appear to be global and independent of religious or political factors.
