It’s nice to see a demo of someone playing and not having to FF through a ton of talking. The tone alone sells this thing with no speeches necessary. It’s on my radar for sure.

I've just bought this guitar. Having owned Fender, PRS, Gibson and Ibanez, the session is the most comfortable guitar I've played, I paid £549 uk and I'm blown away. The most expensive guitar I've owned was a Fender Strat American Pro and I can't find any difference between the two that justifies the price difference. The fit, finish and overall quality of the Godin belies it's price point. I'm honestly blown away and plan on getting me a Summit Classic very soon. Godin congratulations you have a customer for life.

Ok. I went to a guitar shop today to get my first ever Fender Strat. I had $1000 set aside (Canadian) but was willing to go up to $1300 or so. I played three different strats and liked the HSS setup. I then played a few Gibsons but I have owned them before and wanted a change. Then I saw this guitar hanging on the wall. The finish is unreal and really caught my eye. Saw it was a Godin which i've never played. I loved the shape and sat down and played. Holy shit. Instant love. Best feeling neck of any of the guitars I played and the best tone as well. All for less than $600 with a nice gig bag. Congratulations Godin, and made in Canada/USA too. Those pickups are unreal. I won't ever sell this guitar. If you are thinking of buying an electric at least play this. edit: I should say that it needed a setup as I was getting a buzz on the top fret, high e string. Long and Mquad did it included in the price.

That's kinda similar to how I got my first Godin. Was looking at strats mostly, then saw a Godin Freeway classic on sale and my mom said I should try it. Felt great, was less money than the strats, had a nice finish, had a tone I really liked, and even my mom when I started playing slowly looked over at me. She told me out of all the ones I played, that was a head turner. I do have a HH strat now (with Godin pickups in it actually), but the Godin is still my main guitar. I also play through vintage Traynor amps, and I'm Canadian....so it's kinda nice to rep Canada with my guitar and amp.

I also own two seagull guitars. I had the sws mahogany dread first and I liked it so much I upgraded to the artist series rosewood and spruce dread. Great great guitars. The artist series is unbelievable. If you are looking for an acoustic seagull is the way to go. What you get in the artist series is the equivalent of a 4000-5000 dollar guitar from the "big" companies. It's every bit as good too. Beautiful guitars in every way.

I can't say enough good things about Godin guitars. A few years back, I wanted to re-live my early garage band years so I bought a used 2010 Session simply because it had all the parts, looked pretty and I could afford it. Stupid reasons, eh? Banged around on that and revived my childhood. After awhile, I wanted to really learn music, so I put down the Session (and my foolish teenage ambitions) and took up Classical. I bought a La Patrie Concert (electric). Year and a half later, I wanted to fool around with conventional acoustic, so I put down the La Patrie and bought a Seagull S6 Dread (electric). Late Pandemic season - It's been years since I touched my Session, so I thought I would learn some Hendrix (because who doesn't want to be God-like). I'm hooked because I while don't have Jimmy's skill, I can create some noise that still sounds ok. Thank goodness for the Godin. After seeing this video, I think I need a compressor. So, it seems I made some good decisions on my guitars. I can't make up my mind about what I want to play, but I know that no matter what I style I choose, I have equipment that won't piss me off. IMO you just can't get a better quality/sound for the money. It all started more or less by accident with the Session.

That's a nice guitar played very well. I guess it's a versatile guitar because you can play any genre music on it you want to. I haven't seen the guitar yet that isn't exactly as versatile as this Godin. Any guitar under the sun can be used to play any song ever invented in any country under the sun. So I guess every guitar in the world is that versatile. Under the sun. I have 3 Godins and they are each precious because of their high quality and playability.

Have you ever played Yamaha Pacifica 611 and can you compare it to Godin Session Plus, because I will have to make a decision between these two guitars in the next few months? Man, I gotta say, I changed the pickups in this guitar for Lollar blackfaces and an imperial in the bridge, and with the exception of the humbucker, which was a definite improvement, and I’m starting to think it was a mistake. It’s my favourite guitar out of about a dozen I own (Gibsons, fenders) and these single coils somehow perfectly suit the voice of the guitar

So you think I should leave em them because I was about to take it in and change em all. I’ve only been playing it a day and out of a Katana and finding it hard to get rid of the muddy tone. It’s not terrible by any means but even the tubscreamer isn’t cutting through the mud. Maybe it’s just the amp , I don’t know but any advice would be appreciated.

@@benallmark9671 I would say if you're not happy switch em out man. In my case, I liked the single coils in that guitar cause they did something a little different than my other strats, really round and jazzy tone as opposed to spanky with lots of cut, and the lollars as a replacement just didn't suit that particular guitar fully (sound phenomenonal in the guitar they ended up in tho). I would also replace the pots and capacitor with something else, as atypically, they are both 500 K which is normal to use with humbuckers but not single coils. If you're willing to spend a few bucks rather than the cheapest option try VIPickups 270k pots, they are copies of the ones fender used in guitars back in the day, with the correct value and taper, really well made too. They also sell paper in oil capacitors too (you want 0.47 with strat most likely) which is what was used back in the day but you can get away with an orange drop capacitor or something too. Hope that helps and you get it sounding like you want it to man 🤘

Hi - are you referring to the push/pull ? When the knob is pushed up, the humbucker gets split into a single coil.

Could be the design. But that could be only my opinion anyway. That pickguard just doesn't look right, idk.

I just made a comment about this but yeah, I agree. Went to buy a $1000 Strat and instead got this. Sounded better, played better and was way less money.

I don't understand why people are complimenting the clean tone. The "Laurentian Basswood" the guitar body is made from is a cold-weather tonewood. It is very heavy and dense-pored with the result that the guitar is not very airy-sounding (even when single coil pickups are used) or articulate. The stock pickups are not a good fit for this guitar, either, but changing them will not work miracles. And - as far as I know - Godin has now discontinued production of the guitar because it is no longer listed on their website.
@apinkapike8279
@apinkapike8279 5 жыл бұрын
Canadian-grown basswood is lighter and less dense than the alder and swamp ash used on most of the Fenders people have a boner on. And yes, the model is still produced as the Session LTD - same guitar except for a Seymour Duncan humbucker and some cosmetic changes (different finish colors and white pearloid pickguard instead of plain white).

I've owned both Godins and Fenders. Godin has great build quality for the price point - but poor tone - and that is why I'm not sorry I swapped my Godins for Fenders. Godin has been sticking the same lousy G&B-sourced "GS-series" stock pickups in their guitars since the mid-90s. They used to build guitars with very good tonewood - but they now use lousy "cold-weather" tonewoods that are locally-sourced. And Godin stock guitar hardware is not very good, either.

@@ald7248 not sure what you're on but these guitars are top quality. The basswood they are using is a very heavy and thick wood, closer to the density of mahogany. They are using seemore Duncan in alot of their guitars now and using top quality hardware made in Canada. I've owned every guitar under the sun and you can not best a Godin at their price. To give it such a lousy review makes me assume you really have no understanding of achieving a good tone from your guitars. RIP to your fenders

Huh? I own a Godin and it's nice. My Gibsons are nice too. One doesn't have to suck for the other to be great. And it isn't just Americans who enjoy American made guitars.

😏😏Triste monde !!!! 😭😭
