Love this film and so enjoyed your review! I've just discovered Off the Shelf reviews recently and just spent most of my weekend watching all the Alien, Predator, AVP films, Robocop (my fav) Die hard and all Halloween films, along with the Maniac Cop reviews that you guys have done. Gary and Iain, you both are now are one of my favourite KZbin film reviewers. I can really relate to both your perceptive and informative insights, utter joy and incredulous gasps. The dynamic between the both of you is just gold. You bring an intelligent yet humble, every day approach to film reviewing, which is both refreshing and endearing. Look forward in watching all your reviews. Keep it up lads

Thanks. Great movie! Now, about the 3 seashells... My take is that it's a bidet system: wash, dry, flush. Simple as can be. They're just 3 knobs on the wall, in the shape of seashells. My only beef is: who the hell leaves the bullets in the guns in a museum? That's my boggle. tavi.

"THE THREE SEA SHELLS" 1. Cleaning via vacuuming. 2. Anti-bacterial mist. 3. Dry air.

Thanks again, Gary and Iain, for reviewing another one of my favorite films! DEMOLITION MAN was light years ahead of its time and it's aged very well compared to other '90s action flicks.

I'm glad I've never seen the Pizza Hut dubbed version. Every one I've seen (VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and streaming) has had the original Taco Bell scenes.
@JasonSterlingRMC7 жыл бұрын
Some trivia in reference to the review- Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are not just owned by the same company now but were back when the movie was made as well. They, KFC and Frito Lay were all owned by Pepsi Co. in the early Ninties. Pepsi later spun them off into a separate group.

I always assumed the 3 SeaShells were buttons, like controls for some kind of space bidet... you know, with lasers and such..
@TheSuperQuail7 жыл бұрын
This is how I thought the 3 seashells worked - they are actually 3 buttons that control the toilet: The 1st one cleans your arse with water, the 2nd one wipes and the 3rd flushes.
@fuzzydunlop17535 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's pretty much what I thought as well.

Wow guys. I watched the movie about 100x. But just through your review I just realized how much symbolism is used in the movie simply through the names. 1. Spartan - the hero 2. Phoenix - the antagonist who's last life cicle ended with fire -> explosion, before he rises years later again by freeing himself from cryo prison. 3. Edgar Friendly - the misunderstood leader of people who wants their freedom. He only comes out of the underground to steal food to feed others. Even the black officer from Johns past. Something like bla bla bla Lamb, which could be interpretated as, in the beginning of the movie he was a Lamb because he was a freshman. And in the future he was a Lamb because society has became peaceful, therefore defenseless. Etc... oh god, I need to see that movie again right now🤣 Btw. I also loved the attention for detail. Did anyone heard the alarm sound far in the distance, like from another room after Pheonix used the bad language in the museum. Like it is registered even if there is no of these wall machines in the same room.

Good review guys, as usual. But by the way Stallone did not direct ROCKY. He wrote the screenplay, (a story he wrote years before) but directed by John G. Avildsen. I find it interesting that most people think Stallone was the director.
@irllcd137 жыл бұрын
What annoys me about this movie is everyone calls Stallone a primitive and gives him tons of shit, when it's only 2032 and these people are obviously old enough to remember the time that John is from. Like, did they forget what the 1990s were like, that violence, sex and swearing are real things that exist?
@TheUballe2 жыл бұрын
Yeah... but today, we have idiots who can't even remember how good we had it in 2019, and insist that we all need to continue barracading ourselves in our homes, spraying your groceries with lysol, and so on. Also, we now have an entire generation of folks who legitimately believe that there are infinite genders amd that racism can only be acted upon by those in power.

A great film, I always had a fondness for it. But I feel it falls just a teensy big short of excellence. This could have been Sky’s Total Recall or RoboCop. It ain’t story problems per se, but it feels something got lost in the edit. Primarily, the third act seems like it’s in a rush. Probably because the post production was running out of time. We’ve all heard of the scenes cut; Spartan’s daughter, Jesse Ventura’s death scene etc. Maybe they would have helped. Regardless, I still love this flick

That's really stupid that they changed Taco Bell to Pizza Hut just because of a fear that some people wouldn't know what Taco Bell was. People are capable of doing a very small amount of research... I'm just glad they didn't feel the need to change it in America just to unify it for some stupid reason. I have the film on blu ray and it's still Taco Bell.
