The Sega CD almost always got the best versions of these games, yet most of those could've been upmade for the Saturn, then bundled together. Saturn could've launched with 20-30 of these Sega CD games just to have something on shelves, but SoJ wasn't listening to SoA, gamers, nor devs.

I used to love reading Mean Machines magazine when I was a kid. I still have a lot of those still tucked away in the loft (attic) but a lot of those pages have screen shots missing from where I cut them out with a pair of scissors to glue stick into my our "special review book" that I made from an old blank school text book. I think all my reviews gained a 10 out of 10- Sonic, Streets of Rage, Road Rash, Desert Strike.... at that age I couldn't complain about any of them. I didn't become a professional writer however.

you can tell this game was made to look amazing on a CRT TV. The vertical lines on the art is an artist trick to get sub pixel color mixing. If you have a nice CRT TV, please include a segment where you film the screen for a minute or two. It would be worth it if only to showcase some of the cool effect.

This was a good game paired with an excellent movie. In fact nowadays the movie hits a bit too close to home with its satire. The prescient nature of it can be a bit much at times. ❤ I saw it again recently and the scene where they gleefully listen to the radio station of old commercials is funny... but I found myself doing something similar watching old commercials on KZbin. 😅 Nostalgia is comforting I suppose.

Yeah, I remember playing it back in the day and quite liking it for the most part (though the FPS section where you're tracking down Phoenix was a bit awkward to work out. I remember that I'd be wandering around, only for him to saunter by with a machine gun and then completely annihilate me. I was just a kid, so I was probably not paying proper attention). The 3DO game is admittedly several mediocre games frankensteined together, with barely any overlap between the controls of the different sections, but it's surprisingly ambitious and I do respect it for that at least. When you make a game that's a rail shooter, a fighting game, and an FPS you're probably going to have a tough time making that feel coherent but the fact that they did actually give it an earnest go of it and you never see that kind of experimental game design nowadays

Game seems servicable enough, but what I'm REALLY interested in now is what's up with the delay- why would they do that? Was it not coming together, or did the previous publisher not think the game would sell or what?

I really loved this game. Good to know that Acclaim actually had little to do with this one... Explains why it's actually decent !

Demolition Man is one of my favourite movies of all time, I’ve never played the games, but the Mega Drive and Mega CD versions are pretty decent as far as movie to video game adaptations go from what I’ve seen and those 64 colour limitations aren’t too much of an issue due to sprites being used and compares favourably to the SNES version and the music is very good especially in the Mega Drive version with Tommy Tallerico doing the sound design which is why the voice samples are really clear. And speaking of the SNES version, the Mega CD shares some of the music tracks with the SNES version which in my opinion sounds better than the Mega Drive version which is pretty decent.

One of my all-time favorites. I feel like this kind of run & gun with larger sprites was a very short-lived subgenre that hasn't been seen since. But big question for Sega Lord X: Does the audio track on the 1st level of the Sega CD version keep stopping & repeating after about 30 seconds? Every version online does that.

The retail version does that. Multiple tracks on the disc are incomplete. Not sure how they didn't catch that before release.

I had this cartridge back in the late 90s and it blew me away... And my nerves too. Game was infuriating!!! Nevertheless I persevered and got to the ending. Btw, in Argentina, local magazines absolutely trashed it, specially Action Games. The game wasn't that bad at all and your review is on point.

I preferred the 3do version with the light gun shooting and video they filmed just for the game
