People love to hate on any power scaling but I agree that its quite important to the consistency of a story. Muichiro had the mark and so his strength is significantly boosted, as was ranking when his came out. So that’ll explain the difference you’re noticing . You’ll also remember that Gyutaro was held back by his sister quite a bit and so his ranking may or may not be representative of this strength to begin with.. I would say there is a noticeable gap between hashira however, albeit no significant currently, but I’m sure this’ll be something you lot easily pick up on 👍

It could be that we got no backstory on Gyokko because he had nothing redeeming about him. We didn’t get backstories for a number of different demons, such as the Arrow Demon, the Spider Brother Demon (who faded away super fast), and Enmu (Lower Moon One). These guys must have been pretty evil in their human lives too. I kinda thought that Gyokko might have had a back story of him being some kind of pottery artisan who loved fishes, or maybe lived near the sea, but his artistry was unappreciated by the people around him.

Hey guys I have been noticing a lot of misinformation by some comments, just to clear it up: Gyuutaro was not supposed to be Upper 4, this was never stated. Gyokko and Hantengu are both stronger than Gyuutaro. What is stated is that Gyuutaro had potential to become better by Muzan, as in, maybe in some decades he could have gone up a rank. Daki held him back as a demon cause his love for her made him ignore strategies that could give him the win easily. This is why Muzan says “you are dying in the order of who has the most humanity left.” It’s not because Daki is holding him back power wise, in fact, the whole reason he was so strong was because she was by his side, but of course, heartless demons like Muzan could only see this as weakness rather than strength. You may have noticed but Muichiro at the start of the fight was not talkative, the total opposite of himself later on, and as you guys mentioned, it was because he was on the zone. Muichiro was on the brink of death before the mark appeared, so it’s something interesting 👀 Hopefully this helps!

Fun fact on Muichiro and Rengoku relationship. Muichiro of course sees him a nice person with a nice voice. Rengoku says he respects Muichiro since he senses and believes the kid has more talent than he does. Muichiro is literally the youngest demon slayer to kill a Upper Rank. At the mere age of 14, a year younger than Tanjiro who isn’t a Hashira.

the hashira are so fucking sick, each of them could be a main character in any other show and yea giyutaro was definitely upper 5 or even 4 level but he was held back by his remaining humanity and daki

Α ridiculously fast barrage of slashes is nothing new in anime, obviously, but I personally really prefer when you get to see the swordsman’s actual movements like here. (As opposed to most other shows, which tend to draw α bunch of lines on the screen and let that be that.)

For your concerns, all the Hashira are strong and there’s no offical list, most manga readers consider Muichiro to be the third or fourth strongest Hashira. However it’s up to opinion at the end of the day. Also Gyokko is stronger then Gyutaro, unfortunately ufotable wasn’t able to animate his full destruction that he does in the manga which would hint to the audience that he is leauge above Gyutaro

Rengoku is definitely strong as a Hashira that's why a lot of the Hashiras were shocked of his death but you have to remember that this was Akaza he was dealing with who was very strong. Plus the train of people he had to protect were in their way. The top3 upper demons are just a lot to deal with. As for Tengen, he is considered one of the fastest and he did have a hard time dealing with Gyutaro because gyutaro would have been ranked higher like upper 4 in terms of strength and skill but daki held him back. You'll discover that with Akaza and Douma's ranking as well. The one w lesser humanity in them will always rank higher. For Gyokko and Hantengu however, the burn marks helped the demon slayers. They werent able to do that for years and Tanjiro's mark was somewhat a surprise bcuz only the older hashiras (or those that have read their history) are aware of it's history and significance. It's also a matter of matching their type of breathing w the type of demon theyre battling. That's why Tanjiro definitely has experienced a lot 😅 oh but there are 2 definitive strongest hashiras out of every1 to which you'll know about that at the later arcs

When it comes to the hashira the top 2 strongest are agreed on by most people but the other 3-9 hashira are debatable there isn't really a official ranking. I personally have muichiro as the 5th strongest but you will see some people have him higher or lower. Same with rengoku I think hes 7th or 8th (tengen being the weakest imo) but some will have him higher.

Agreed. Each Hashira has their own strengths which is why it's hard to rank 3-9 accurately. For example, Shinobu is physically the weakest but would be an amazing partner with her speed. We saw how much wisteria poison slowed down Gyutaro and Shinobu's is way more potent.

As a manga reader, there really is no definite strongest hashira but as you will come to see, there are a few candidates. Some reasons it was so hard to defeat upper 6 for Tengen was due to him being poisoned as well as him having to protect the main 3 along with Hinatsuru.
