one argument you didn't consider for Tanjiro surviving passed 25 is that he was temporarily turned into a demon and that reset whatever strain the mark had on his body. Just like how he got has arm and eye back though not fully restored to normal perhaps he could have be given some additional years to live

Here's my interpretation on how the demon slayer mark's curse works; maybe the reason why the marks kill the user at the age of 25 is due to constant use of said mark. Gyomei was past the age of 25, yet showed no signs of heart problems because it takes time for the effects to take place. As for the other demon slayers from the sengoku era, it was stated by Kokushibo that they were slaying demons left and right, meaning they constantly used the mark. Yoriichi was an outlier likely because he was born the mark, thus his body could handle the constant strain of the mark's effect. But that's the thing, Giyu and Sanemi weren't using the marks by the end of the story, because they didn't need go use the mark anymore. For Tanjiro? Even in the last parts of the story his mark is still active, so the mark may take its toll when he hits 25 because he made his body constantly use the mark's effects. But I wholeheartedly believe the demon slayer mark's curse will shorten a users lifespan the more you use it, it's just the age of 25 is the hard limit if you use it constantly. If you are pass the age of 25 and only use it once? You shorten your lifespan by a few years.

You forget though, that Gyomei had only activated it once and that was only for the final battles, and even stated that he probably had a few hours at best since he was over the age of 25. After the battle was finished and he deactivated the mark he passed away. There is no in between. 25 and that's it you're croaking. Until the author IF the author ever gives specifics that's that. If I had to guess though, it's probably more a spiritual thing like muzans ancestors curse than physical. Just like they were cursed to die early and with disease for spawning muzan, the slayer mark gives you superhuman abilities for the price of your lifespan. This story did have massive spiritual ties to things so who knows...

The mark's curse probably isn't a curse in actuality. Slayers that awaken the mark most likely die young due to the stress and toll of the effects of the mark on their bodies. High body temperature plus heightened blood pressure seems to sharpen their senses and provide access to vastly more power. It makes sense if the body is working overtime, the slayer in question would then be granted power to match the conditions met. One can strengthen their physical condition to the utmost, but the heart is the heart. Yorichi was born with the mark, therefore would be able to grow and develop amongst the mark's conditions. Tanjiro might have been an exception as his family practiced Sun Breathing, albeit unknowingly, so generations of use could have ingrained the conditions in their DNA. Meaning the Kamado family would have been practicing the conditions to meet the mark's effects throughout the generations. Similar to chicken pox vaccines being given to people for decades and slowly eradicating the disease throughout the generations.

Because that was his natural body. He was born with the mark. He invented Sun breathing but no one could ever truly replicate it. So it’s been Branched off to every other style. And those Yoorichi is never truly pushing his body. It’s his natural state. Awakening the mark for a normal person is pushing their body to inhuman levels. A body temperature that high, a heartbeat that fast, and hyperventilating that much should kill you the second it happens.

I’d like to point out that Demon Slayer also takes place in a time period where the lifespan of the average person wasn’t all that long to begin with. Just saying. Even if we consider the fictional aspects of this world such as sun breathing, Knowing that total concentration breathing is inspired by a martial arts breathing method, and demons; the average lifespan still during that time period wouldn’t have been much older than 40. This is an average of course and there will always be exceptions to any rule, but this is a story that took place during the turn from the feudal to industrial periods of Japanese history. Between all the war and the recent introduction of improved medicine, lifespans wouldn’t grow much for at least another two generations. Evidence of this is in the fact that we see many people die from basic illnesses in the series.

I always thought the rule about dying before 25 was due to all the battles a marked one will fight. It's not a curse that kills at 25, it's just a power up that usually leads to the person dying before 25. I can imagine going into a state of elevated temperature and heart rate puts a toll on the body, and the fights that require such a boost are life or death struggles. So, it would make sense that a person wouldn't survive long being pushed to the limit.

Gyomei can be argued to have died from it. Tanjuro is heavily implied to have died from it. And Tanjiro as well. And then a ton of people died from it back in the day, it wasn't limited to people with black blades. And the reason people with black blades died was because Muzan hunted them down, not because they learned the wrong style, in fact, they knew the right one.

The only people we see with a black blade were Tanjiro, and Yoichi.
