I think anyone who liked Inu Yasha or even Rumiko Takahashi’s art style would like this series. There’s a lot of weird shonen logic in the power ups but the story gets better as it goes on! It’s at 12 volumes in Japanese as of today so there’s quite a bit to get covered. I think the better part of the series is how Tanjiro manages to empathize with the various demons before killing them. After Tanjiro, there will be 2 other side characters that make up the young demon slayer 3 Stooges trope. I think that’s when the story starts solidifying and later once the higher ups get revealed, kinda like the rescue Rukia Soul Society arc in Bleach where the captains get introduced. Hopefully the Viz release won’t fall too far behind the anime! Thanks for your review!

Was interesting coming back to watch this now after seeing how insanely this series has exploded following the anime last year. looks set to blow away one piece's record of 38 million manga sales in a year and with no sign of slowing down. Having just been in Japan over the last month everywhere you go you will find this series in some way shape or form, whether its merch (which was extraordinarily expensive, way more expensive than other series as people are making the most of its current success and popularity) or having the opening song for the anime playing in restaurants.

Now when it's nearing the end, i would give like 7, The story isn't unique but it's decent it has good comedy and tragic moments but the art style is definitely not the strong point. I can't remember if it was in vol 01 but in some later chapters, there were so so bad drawn pages it could literally (not exaggerating nor meaning it figuratively) drawn by anyone who has spent few hours to draw before. Some might argue that it adds a layer of comedy which it does but it doesn't make the art style great, or even good. And that's one of the very rare few cases that makes anime better than manga (actually that's the only one i can even think from the top of my head.) Anime had a great art style (Imho) it fit really well with the story and even did well in expressing mangaka's style (Excluding the ugly pages). Well, that's just my opinion on this manga anyways so take it with a grain of salt. And even tho i mostly focused on the negative side of it i would still recommend people to read/watch it if they are interested in shounen battle manga/anime.
