Alissa has an amazing voice both growling ( demon voice as you say) and when she sings clean. Arch Enemy is a heavy guitar driven band with her growls, the hard drumming and strong bass make them an amazing band. This is my favorite song by them, great reaction, you should check out the original video when you have time, I think you would all like their look in it esp. her outfit. As I saw someone else comment on one of their videos, she has the face of an angel the voice of a demon and the music of the gods. Thank you again ladies. P.S. you should listen to them with their original singer Angela Gossow and the song We Will Rise.

Most of their songs are all harsh vocal, the cleans are rare.

She does this and clean vocals when she starred as a guest vocalist (with Elize Ryd of Amaranthe) on the live tour with the USA symphonic metal band Kamelot.

Enjoyed the reaction. First time seeing this song live. Alyssa's harsh vocals are so good and are really well placed in the mix here. What I love most about Arch Enemy is the melodic guitar lines and solos. I lke the music video better because the guitar tones are cleaner and higher in the mix and the guitar solos are more intricate and melodic. Still loved the video and performance. Now you need to watch Alissa with Powerwolf and the song Demon's are a Girls Best Friend.

The band is based from Sweden but the female singer is a Canadian and the blonde guitar player is an American.

I love this song, it really resonate with me. I have always been outside the box type of person always question why i should do as some people say just because. What i like with AE is that Alyssa, before that it was Angela, are growling and screaming the lyrics, while the guitars plays some wonderful melodies in the back. Angela once said "the people screams with me but they sings with Michael". Dont be afraid to check out some of the older stuff with this band, and see Angela sing aswell. Anyway great reaction from the 3 ladies, ty.

I saw Arch Enemy live in 2010 in England when they still had their old singer ( Angela Gossow )with them, who is now their manager and they were amazing. It’s always very impressive to see women growl that low.

Fun fact: on their 2012 US tour, then Nightwish singer Anette Olzon had to be rushed to the hospital only hours before their Denver show. The crowd already entering the building, the band asked them if they would prefer if the show was cancelled, or to get an improvised show with substitute singers. The crowd obviously chose the latter. So, Nightwish performed that evening fronted by the two backup singers from their support act Kamelot (one of the biggest power metal bands from the US, by the way): Sweden's Elize Ryd and Canada's Alissa White-Gluz. Both of them have since become big stars in their own right, in Amaranthe and Arch Enemy respectively. However, Anette Olzon was so enraged that Nightwish had gone through with the show without her that she took to badmouth her own band on social media, and proclaiming how sorry she felt for that poor crowd for having to endure such a spectacle. This of course hastily precipitated her dismissal from the band, that was already a long tome coming from her ever-worsening attitude problems. And to her own great shock, a certain Dutch singer feeling frustrated about her career having come to a premature halt, got a phone call from a Finnish keyboard player named Tuomas Holopainen who she was vaguely acquainted with from eight years prior when she was fronting After Forever, asking her if she could get on the first plane to the US and learn Nightwish's whole setlist in 48 hours.' And we all know what happened next, don't we 🙂

Lulu, I admit I’ve never heard this song before, of course I don’t listen to scream rock, listen to the Traveling Wilburys song Handle With Care, five legends of rock and roll together.. Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison (Beatles), and Roy Orbison

Arch Enemy is my favourite band so I am biased - But I know a lot of people hear that the genre is "melodic death" and assume it is all gross and nihilistic and incredibly negative. Truth is that Arch Enemy is pretty big on empowerment and personal engagement with the world you live in - The Eagle Flies Alone is a good example of the kind of themes often used as inspiration (this works for me, I hate love songs and emotionally drippy music - bring me the rawness and the power!) I love Alissa's growl because the words are so distinct and not overly distorted, and I love that the musical intent in the guitar playing is not lost in a muddy fuzz of over amplified noise. Melody is such a profound part of Arch Enemies music that audience engagement "sing along" parts are often just singing along to the guitar melody.

This song is better on that music video (there aren't many places where there are good recordings but there are some) The other thing is that she doesn't wear leather or anything from the animal kingdom as she has been vegan since 25 years ago and she released her own song less than a week ago where she sang purely alone. The one you also comment that she sings a whole song while there are whole performances that she sings so so around 2 hours

i don't think you've reacted to cannilbal corpse, the had two vocalyst over the years the lastest being george "corpsegrinder" fisher. a live version definitely. enjoy.

Hm, so, have you ladies looked into contacting any of the people who could teach YOU how to do harsh vocals / growls / demon voices? You should look into it. The basics are not that difficult... even I can do it. (granted, I have a bunch of head/neck anatomy/physiology education, but DOING the vocals is much easier than understanding how the larynx and associated tissues work) You just need to learn how to do it safely, and don't do too much, too soon. Just a thought. It's easier than learning how to do double kicks on the drums, or tapping a solo on guitar. (I can do the latter, not the former)
