Checking out the new demo of Demons of Asteborg - a new Metroidvania style game for the Sega Mega Drive. I backed this last September, and it looks like it's coming along nicely.

Yes, shaping up to be very good, but this is presumably quite an early version.

Enjoyed the play through and looks promising, but needs a hell of a lot of polish in my opinion. However, the framework looks all there. I will keep an eye on this.

I think it's really good as it is, but no doubt this is an early version that will be tweaked before the final product is ready.

Just played this on OpenEmu on macOS. Very smooth, and nice. I'll be pre-ordering this.... Jumps were a little tricky. Not sure if that was me, but probably me...

Yes, I found quite a few jumps tricky too. Took me several attempts. Hopefully that will be ironed out before release.

What a great looking game. Animation is amazing and love the MD vibes in the sound department. I do enjoy like platforming hack n slash games and this looks like a belter. There’s life in the old dog yet as they say lol.

Wow it looks way better than I was expecting. Love the music. Graphically it's pretty impressive and given the type of game it is I'm amazed it's running on the Megadrive at all. That being said I do see room for improvement. I think that boss needs a life bar as it takes way too many hits and you've got no idea if you're close to beating him or not. Not knowing makes these battles a chore in my opinion. Still very impressive.

Definitely room for improvement, but it does have a lot of promise, and presumably this is an early version. Would love a life bar on that boss because I didn't even know which attacks were effective.

Wow, the current demo is really great. The game reminds me very much of the excellent Guacamele. If the rest of the game is of such high quality, DOA will be a true 16-bit masterpiece.

Really digging that music and some great parallax backgrounds there. The underground area reminded me a bit of Shadow of the Beast.

Class demo man, the graphics are really sharp and colourful. Gameplay looks fantastic, but I couldn’t see the switch at the water wheel, probably cause I’m nearly blind lol falcon ell, I’d never kill that boss, the big shit. super video, loved the haircut. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧

Not heard about this at all Pete, reminds me a bit of Leander on the Amiga. Think I'm going to have to place an order, I'm really impressed. That end of level bady does look tricksy, could do with an energy bar so you at least know your on the right track.

I think it's definitely worth a dice roll pre-order as it's shaping up to be brilliant, David. That boss definitely needs an energy bar as I didn't even know which attacks were effective.

This game does impress me! & seems like it could be a very good game once complete. But in the current version allot of weird stuff has happened, from my character disappearing into a graphical glitch and getting stuck on a imaginary path to the game just crashing into some kinda terminal text based screen. But this is expected from an early access game. I will continue to pay attention!

Huh, I hadn't heard about this..! (And when I read the title of the video I thought it'd be about something produced by the demoscene ;) It doesn't seem to be as fluid as I'd like, but it definitely looks like a good beginning..! Although I think it's a poor design decision to have death pits in a Metroidvania (circa 6:20), a genre that typically requires (circa 7:00) or rewards jumping into the unknown…
