Also, they say to use 30 weight motor oil to lubricate the push rod, but I have been using 75W - 90 Amsoil severe gear differential oil that I use on my truck for differentials, and as the consistency is also much thicker it lubricates it fantastic.

I said, go for it, Brother, it’s amazing the amount of money you can save on ammunition if you shoot a lot. I do shoot a lot, especially during the competition season and literally you’re getting over 4000 slugs for the price of two tins of slugs! It’s unbelievable the savings. It is time-consuming, and a big investment upfront, but the amount of money you save will pay for itself, without question, mine already has

Hi Chris, as a person who worked in the lead crystal industry for over thirty years, I should warrn you about handling lead. You really should be wearing disposable vynil gloves when handling lead. Just looking at your hands and fingers made me a little worried. Lead can easily enter your body. The problem is that once in your body, it can't get out and always settles in your bones. Old lead workers when X-rayed, would look like their bones had been peppered with a shotgun! Once in there, it's there for good and weakens the bones. That's why Lead (Pb) is classed as toxic. Wear disposable gloves and you will be fine. Never ever eat food with your hands if you've been handling lead without washing them. If melting down lead, always wear a good quality mask and have good extraction (if doing it indoors). You can buy a box of disposable latex or vynil gloves for a few dollars. I really enjoyed your video because I've decided to get one of these presses. If a lead ban comes in, you won't be able to buy pellets or slugs so this will be the only way to go as I don't think anyone has come up with a good lead free alternative yet. I'm in England in the UK and it's already started here.

Hey, I really appreciate your concern, but my hands are actually dirtier when I start, then you would expect I’m always working on my machinery and vehicles, also, I am an EPA lead safe, certified firm, I do lead removal for a living. So I am extremely familiar with lead levels and are the effects of the contaminants of lead. Honestly, thank you so much for expressing your concern. It’s genuinely appreciated, but my hands are not getting all that dirty from the lead and I wash them right after, the only reason I don’t use gloves is because they make it so much more difficult to handle things that small. I don’t put it in my mouth or anywhere open and I wash my hands thoroughly as soon as I’m done. But honestly, please don’t think I’m being sarcastic. I genuinely appreciate the concern.

Nice to hear that you took some vacation. Like you I've been around firearms for most of my life including the time spent in the Gulf war. Yes I'm a veteran. Needless to say I've been around firearms all my life and years ago use to shoot nearly every weekend but the prices of ammo have gone up soooo much I wanted to find another way to continue my shooting. Answer was the air gun. I live in the town or city limits and shooting a firearm will put me under the jail so again air guns fit the bill. I'm saving money for the equipment for the scraps after making slugs that I can nearly eliminate the waste to be used over into creating slugs for my use. I'm about to place an order for a Lee blank form and take to my local machine shop have them bore the size i want for my 30 cal for lead cores to be used with the press.

If you need something you can let me know I’ll be happy to help you out. Let me know if anyone is interested in the AEA guns, but I’d be happy to try to make that stuff for you. I’ve already made parts to modify my own. But get your press first and see how you like it, I’m sure you will love it I love mine, I built a huge bullet trap, 6 feet high and 8 feet wide. I bought a smelting pot to burn off all the crap from targets, then I use a lee melting pot with the spout that pours right into the molds, and it makes it nice and easy

So, as far as shooting targets, I never waste any lead. I bought a bunch of 25 pound rolls of lead wire, and I had a shit load of chimney lead for roofing, I started making bullets, and I have not run out of the lead I have for crucibles Full of lead. Probably 30 pounds each right now that needs to be casted and a full 20 pound pot along with about six rolls in different calibers. I won’t be running out of ammo anytime soon. Not to mention I have about 50 drawers, full of different calibers and weights already pressed as you’ll see in some of my videos.

Thank you, I actually got two bottles of Corbin’s lube, and I also got one of imperial extremely high lubricity for case forming and full length resizing that will not stick in case or die, that’s right from the label. They both work fantastic, but honestly the bullet lube worked better than anything on the hollow point because it’s much more thick consistency made it adhere to the pin, and makes it much easier to remove the slugs after you press them. The others do as well, but not as well as the bullet lube.

Hey Christopher, Thanks for responding to the reply and yes I'm learning about making ammo for air rifles. A little about my self- I'm a Military Vet and spent a number of years defending or freedoms and part of that is of course it the freedom to bare arms. I strongly believing in having the right to defend one self and family as well as hunt, which I do. Now at my ripe old age I'm having a ball with my air rifles and own several from AirForce to Umarex. Enough about me , The main reason I wanted to contact you was I was curious about the finished product of the slug because there was no information when I ordered the press, My press should be here Tuesday and along with the press one die comes with it and I opted for the 30 caliber so I can feed my Umarex Gauntlet 2 .30 cal. As time goes on I will order another die for .357 for my AEA Challenger Pro. I'm sorry keep getting off topic... the slug base , there is no information as what type of base it creates if any at all. Again thank you for your input and hope all goes well for you and your family.

@@anthonyferguson1644 so they had two generations generation, one and generation two of the dies, the first generation had a flat base and an indented base, not concave, but abruptly indented, now, the second generation has a concave base and also the slug is shaped differently, which I’ve machined my own dies to make full metal jacket shaped rounds like a 556, I did my own little bit of time in the Marines, so I’m sure you know what I mean, I’ve machine to the part that makes the hollowpoint to be reversed. It was very hard on the 22 caliber I ordered everything from 22 to 35, the AEA guns are really not the greatest guns. I have two of them myself, the terminator 357, and the bull pup 30 caliber challenger, 32 inch barrel, which is a beast, but does not even come close to comparing to the western rattler, that thing shoots 180 grain slugs over 900 ft./s! 130 green slugs over 1000, 150 grand right around 1000. I have a couple other videos where you can see close-ups of the slugs so you can see what they look like. I don’t know if I showed the back but they are concave on the newer generation.

Chris , You have made me feel like a donkey, I never thought to use some spacers in experimenting with the press . I understand the principal and knowing that is awesome. I'm currently made slugs that weight 56.5 gr and that is alright but not my preferred weight, so a trip to my local Lowe's will allow me to make the necessary adjustments to achieve my desired weight grain. Now looking for the other parts needed to reclaim the lead waste instead of tossing it out as rubbish. The hot pot 2 is in price range and also have my eyes on a Lee blank 6 cavity form. The blank form and hot pot will allow me to complete the reclaimed lead from waste and mistakes etc.

I’ve made several of my own, and I started making suppressors, both machined and in 3-D printed material, and honestly, the 3-D, printed carbon fiber materials absorb more sound than the CNC machine aluminum, it’s kind of astounding! Anyway, I’m making mold myself so you can put a custom order in on my site and I can make it for you whatever diameter you want whatever length, etc.

Oh, I totally understand what you’re saying now, yes, I consider doing that to my transfer port as well that’s what that’s called. It’s a transfer port, but huma made one specifically for this gun, so I ordered them for each caliber they were pretty cheap. Like 30 bucks each, so I figured, instead of drilling the holes bigger I would have used my CNC and just made them longer on each side of the piece that keeps the slug from falling in, I’m sure it would have worked great, but they had them premade, so I just ordered them. But that’s the right idea. That’s what I would have done if I didn’t want to spend the money. I just spent so much on that gun, it was worth it to get the right parts. If it was a cheaper gun, I would have done the same thing. But I’m sure that made a big difference. That gun I actually made a video I have to finish it and post it, but I got almost 1300 ft./s with a 19 grain pellet, and 1170 ft./s with a 28 grain slug, with my 50 grain slugs I’m getting about 1000 in the video you will hear the sound barrier crack because the gun is quiet, then you hear that big loud crack of the sound barrier breaking. I’ll put it up soon.

Hey Rollin. Yeah sure I could make you a couple hundred 45 grain, but I have an FX impact and I have the 20 to 25 and 30 caliber set ups, and it shoots heavier than 45 grain. I can shoot up to 69 grain at pretty high velocity’s, I’m not sure what you’ve done to your impact if you have modified it at all, but I have modified mine heavily. All the internals, as well as external modifications, but the power modifications are what makes the difference when shooting, heavy, slugs like that. Even in 25 caliber, I shoot 50 grain in that, my crown, and my Pantera. The other two are only 25 caliber at the moment, but 25 caliber up to 56 grain generally 50 grain. Anyway, sure I’d be happy to you can email me. CJ110109@gmail.com.

Thank you very much I appreciate the compliment. Genuinely, I use my iPhone 14 Pro, it has pretty high resolution, but I do have a DSLR camera, but don’t intend on using it for videos. I have the microphone that hooks up to the iPhone, and when I use the rear cameras, they are 48 megapixel. Most of the cameras on the market are not any better. The only difference is that I’m not zooming in on certain things which another person mentioned then I’m going to start doing so you guys can see closer, but as far as the camera itself I’m probably not going to change it. I don’t benefit in any way monetarily for doing this. I’ve benefit because I get to spread the word and show people how to do things and help other people. I’ve made the investment for the microphones and some other things to be able to do the videos just so I can do that. That’s more valuable to me than any amount they could pay me anyway. And I don’t get enough viewers for them to offer me anything and if someday I do, I would consider spending any money I made benefiting from doing these videos on doing them better, but in the meantime, I’m happy spending my own money on the things I have and more when it comes up, but a camera specifically for this, it just makes it harder to edit the video in the software, and it makes more work, I like to just take the video and upload it. But I am going to do some more close-ups, so you guys can see things more clearly, and hopefully everyone noticed the voice improvements with the microphone I bought, but thank you very much for the compliment, it’s guys like you that appreciate the information and the thought behind showing everyone how to do these things that keeps me doing this

I can add a close-up photo of the old ones and the new ones. The new ones I can tell you for certain are much more accurate, the old ones I would compare to a pointed slug on a 556 round only hollow pointed, the newer ones I would compare to a 9 mm handgun slug only hollow, pointed, and whatever size you want. More rounded, the old ones were more pointed. It’s much better because you get a higher Grain weight just by the shape. And if you use the flat back, you will get even more, but the slight concave back is actually very nice. It catches the air very nicely. It’s better than the indented ones they used to have, and the ones that were flat. I’ll add a photo of them next to each other.

The sizes don’t have to be exactly what those recommendations are, it can be a little more narrow, it just can’t be wider than the hole in the cylinder of the die. When you use the press, it will smash it down and push the access through the holes. So you could even use 25 caliber wire for 30 caliber slugs, but not much further than that. Honestly, Corbin has been the best to deal with as his prices are really reasonable but the shipping kills you. You just have to order a lot at once. The shipping is a whole Nother roll so order at least three or four that’s what I do, but I also order 5 pound rolls with no shipping charges for 33 bucks from Amazon for now from optics planet, which is the seller on Amazon

The 2nd Generation I have designed for speeds 240-315m/s which 787-1033fps and the shape accommodates the wind tunnel and twist rate, average air humidity aerodynamics.

Hi Christopher I have two questions 1 In .edgun they already have the new version of Die for Presslug because I bought my press on June 13, 2022 and I have the putiaguada version and I don't like it very much. I prefer the most recent version 2 if the calibers 177,22,25,30 already have the new version
@Cjsairgunscarsandmachining
@Cjsairgunscarsandmachining 10 ай бұрын
So you probably have the second version which is what I have, I already purchased mine. I don’t remember exactly what month, I can find out, but it was around the same time. It wasn’t much before that. I would have to look to be honest with you I don’t remember exactly, but I don’t do 177, smallest I do is 22, but I go up to 35. They actually have a whole Nother new set out but the ones that I got the second series were perfect for my FX guns, and I bought a 35 caliber edgun Leshiy, and turned it into a 25 caliber, the only thing is those alpha precision barrels aren’t my favorite the Lothar Walther barrels would have been great, but they are choked. So I am going to make my own barrel for it with an STX liner and a heavy slug liner. I’m going to cut down an extra 700 mm that I have to a 450 mm which is what the gun is.

Also, so they came up with different sizes that are different diameters within thousands of an inch, they have a few thousand 7 inch in each direction. If you have the second generation ones like mine, I think they are perfect for any STX barrel, and really, my Weston rattler is shooting 200 grain 357 slugs at 1000 ft./s! It’s fucking unreal! And dead accurate! I shot a crow at 167 yards, and it exploded. So I actually bought mine of January 2023, I just checked the emails with Spain, so they literally came out with those as I bought it. I got the first generation, and they changed them for me for the second generation, after I had already gotten them, and I added the 357 at the end because at first I ordered 20 to 25 and 30, so if you haven’t gotten new ones since then, those weren’t out back Then, but now there are those new ones that I have that are less pointed, and they have a concaved back But now they are also making them in all different diameters above and below standard 218, standard 2496, so on

@@PCLinuxOSX 2-0.2196, and that works perfectly in any STX barrel. Whether it’s the heavy slug liner, or the regular, STX, they shoot perfectly out of those guns. Unbelievable accuracy, it broke my heart. I’m on my way to the pyramid cup right now, and I had to turn down my FX impact from 1050 to 1070 ft./s with 42 grain slugs in 22 caliber all the way down to 22 caliber with grain pellets. Before I made any adjustments, it shot 1430 ft./s, the HM 1000 XRAW did not shoot that fast. It was a little over 1000, but it was even harder to get it down that far.

Hey, you can call me, Chris, and yeah, the impact is an awesome gun. It’s very customizable, I have an ATA terminator 357, and an AEA challenger 30 Cal. I think I’m going to sell the terminator because I bought the western rattler, and it pales in comparison. With the FX impact and the modifications I’ve done I can get 70 grain 30 caliber slugs over 1050 ft./s, it’s not so much the speed in 25 caliber I shoot 50 grain slugs, and I can get them supersonic. It’s a really powerful gun and I put a 700 cc bottle on that as well, but it also has the Plenum full of air in the back. The whole design of that gun is really impeccable. Not much else out there like it. It kind of changed the whole air gun industry. But it sounds like you did a lot of modifications to your AEA, I am not sure what you mean when you say drilled holes in the barrel that doesn’t sound like a good idea, but I must be misunderstanding you. You want the air to stay behind the slug, right up until the end of the barrel. If it goes any more than at the end of the barrel, it will throw off accuracy, any less, and you will lose velocity.

Hello, I have been getting wire from Amazon and the diameter of that wire was 3/16 of an inch, but recently found out that NSA slugs has been making their own lead wire, and selling what they can’t use. I recently ordered a 25 pound roll from them for 80 something dollars, cheaper than I had gotten it anywhere else before. They are always very reasonable on their slugs, and on the lead, so I would highly recommend them and you can get It, any size that slightly smaller than what you intend on using it for, as long as it will fit in the die and isn’t tremendously smaller, the day will press it to size

The best practice for led wire is to 0.9 multiplied by caliber, simply said it should not be too small and it needs to comfortably fit in to main die body, 2nd generation of presslug slug and dies are tested within CZ, LW standard and polygonal barrels and FX Standard and Heavy liners. For example our shape of the slugs for .22" Cal, hits the target most precisely with slug diameter exactly 0.2161 inch in all these barrels mentioned above. Did you know that FX liners have very aggressive choke at the end? .22cal slug shape is after going through choke completely re-formated and the diameter of slug is changed to 0.2059 inch and that completely change the whole balance of the slug and aerodynamics? That is why the shape of the slug is little-bit special. In normal barrels without choke and in FX barrel after slug shape is changed by choke it still keeps the aerodynamics. FX Superior standard barrel is suitable to shoot presslug .22cal. slugs between 23-27grains and everything heavier up to 34grains use Superior heavy liner, you can go up to 40grains but then you need faster twist rate 1/14". I do believe that FX have FX Superior liner (shouldn't be it called SuperHeavy :-)?) in 700mm length that is used by Mat Dubber to shoot those heavy and very long slugs

@Cjsairgunscarsandmachining Жыл бұрын
@@michalkuhn3078 so do you have a presslug? I don’t think you do because if you did, then you would know that they make slugs precisely 0.2169, and they fire incredibly accurately. Slug liners are not choked. Maybe the standard light liners, I have a choke, but slug liners, deliberately do not. That’s why they are called slug liners.

Actually, dude, it was 2000, and another 900 in additional dies, and it was well worth it because you know something I pay $81 for a roll of lead wire, and that produces 3800 heavyweight slugs, how many do you get for $100 maybe three tins of 150, so you get 450 for $100 I get almost 4000 for $82! Who do you think is making out in the long run? If you were any kind of businessman or had a brain, you would be able to do the math and figure out that you were saving a tremendous amount of money instead of making some snide comment about how stupid I am for spending $1600 not knowing that if you could afford it, you would buy it too stop being resentful at other people who have money just because you don’t! You should be happy for other people who succeed. I am! Even if they succeeded more than I ever have or ever will, I’m still tremendously happy for them, because I like to see other people do well. I hate to see other people try to bring people down who do well, people like you that make these snide comments about topics that you have no clue about! Have you even looked into the product, have you even done any kind of research that would make you anyone to even make a comment like that? Because I’m willing to bet you haven’t done any research at all. You don’t even know the actual price! You’ve made that clear in your comment! You do not know how much the actual thing cost. You don’t know the benefits of doing it that way, but yet you’re still making comments about something you know nothing about! Why don’t you know your role, and make comments when you actually know what you’re talking about because you obviously don’t! So if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all do us all a favor

If you don’t buy enough, then it’s probably not worth it, but if you shoot a lot I promise you it is. 25 pounds of lead which is 185,000 grains is 80 bucks, you can make 3,854 48, grain 25 caliber slugs. The problem is you cannot make subcalibers as they do not offer slug dies in subcalibers. This is pretty pathetic because you buy an expensive equipment to make custom slugs and you cannot make custom slugs which have the dimensions which your barrel like.

@@MasonStormSunny also you would be surprised when it’s 100% lead or 95 to 99% because I had a little tin when I cast, the lead expands a little bit when the pressure hits it. Hi, I am always testing the slugs for majority of the barrels that you can find on the market (CZ, LW standard riffling, LW Polygonal riffling, Alfa barrels and FX Superior standard and heavy liners. Remember the diameter of the slugs is of course important bore and groove diameter of the barrels, but these diameters are very similar across barrel industry. what is the most important is at least from my perspective as I am behind the presslug slugs shape development is what friction I get in the barrel and how is changed the shape of the slug at the bore end (FX Choke or non-choked barrels) and that shape and balance of the slug need to be working well within certain speeds and still have good aerodynamics. So what I wanted to say, the diameter of the slug is not dependant only on barrel but also on the shape of the slug itself.

I’m curious, why? Are you worried about the health of the animal that you’re going to kill? Lol but seriously, if you do it properly it’s not any harm to you. Just wash your hands before and after, and when melting do it with proper ventilation, I’m EPA certified for lead removal, I know about this stuff. If you do things properly, it’s not causing you any harm. Unless you don’t have a way to do it with proper ventilation, or to melt it at all, but even lead wire, if you cut it and press it and wash your hands after thoroughly, or wear gloves, it’s not causing any harm to you. Is there another reason why? I actually add a small amount of tin to the pot when I’m melting the lead, because it will cast better but a very very small amount like one percent if that

Yeah, I actually spoke to them myself, but their text pricing is not competitive compared to NSA, the slug company. NSA makes lead wire now, and they sell what they don’t use for their slugs. They sell 25 pounds of whatever diameter there’s about 10 different diameters that they make, I get the 0.200 for 22, and it works fine within that small of a difference. It’s not going to really be noticeable when you’re pressing it, but I don’t think anyone else sells 25 pounds for $82 including shipping. I got 50 pounds for 165 bucks a few times now. Just look up NSA lead wire, it’s very easy to find and it’s the cheapest anywhere. I’ve checked with multiple companies like Roto metals, and I bought from Amazon I ordered from Corbin, Corbin is charging 60 something dollars plus shipping for 10 pounds! So essentially I would be paying almost what I do for two rolls shipped of 25 pounds for only three rolls of 10 pounds. So it’s double. Because it wouldn’t even be as much as the two rolls of 25 pounds, wouldn’t even add up to the three rules of 10 from Corbin. It’s just the best deal out there, that I found I don’t think grotto medals is the selling it cheaper than that on a small scale. If you’re buying less than 700 pounds I don’t think they’re gonna do any better.
