I have found that a dish or cup base could end up leaving your slug half way across the transfer port as the cocking pin has further to travel before it makes contact with the base of the slug. With a flat base slug the slug is pushed further into the barrel past the transfer port allowing a clear passage for the air to propel the slug from the barrel.
@airgunsofidaho48862 жыл бұрын
I haven't had that problem
@PeakyBlinder2 жыл бұрын
@@airgunsofidaho4886 did you measure the furthest point of the transfer port then measure the depth of how fat the slug was pushed into the barrel, If so how did you measure it please.
@airgunsofidaho48862 жыл бұрын
@@PeakyBlinder load a pellet or slug in the air gun and then remove the barrel. And then just check how far the pellet or slug and see how far it when it the barrel. That's the best way to do it
@PeakyBlinder2 жыл бұрын
@@airgunsofidaho4886 thanks, I did this and the slug that was concaved sat very close to the transfer. So now I'm looking into the difference between concaved and flat slugs.

Very nice job But could you please tell me how calculated the (0.30 $ to 22.99 ) the price 0.30 is for how many pellets? Thank you very much for time
@Riyame2 жыл бұрын
Looks like a much improved version of the "Weebly Nomad" pellet maker that was made ~10 years back. The one thing that was nice was it came with a 5 gang mould to cast cores so you didn't have to buy lead wire. This one is much heavier duty and appears to be better machined as well.
@1959Berre5 ай бұрын
If you cast the cores, how do you know the composition of the alloy is correct? Which lead would you source? Pure lead is too soft for making pellets, it needs antimony to make it harder.
@Riyame5 ай бұрын
@@1959Berre JSB pellets are almost pure lead, if not actual pure lead. Crossman pellets are much harder. I used recovered JSB pellets from a pellet trap to cast my cores.

What do you prefer? Melting the lead (casting) or use this press method?
@airgunsofidaho4886 Жыл бұрын
I prefer using the press. Since I can use different hollow points and different bases on the slugs. I not have very much experience casting so my slugs are not very good from the molds.

I think the die is over priced.. well if you order it in a shop who has only manual lathe machine that price may fair but if the shop has CNC and they realy made it for mass produce that price is super high
@danieldyck25762 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's overpriced for a Corbin or the the new GMI freedom dies they're all around twice the price of these
@Ram-pb2zp2 жыл бұрын
How much is the material worth? Well its almost insignificant, what makes it expensive is the making process or how they making is done. In a small shop that is first-time working on it it may take 2 hours but with the proper toolings, you dont even need CNC even conventional machines they can make one every 10 minutes.
