Really simplified giving reasoning for the desired levels. Thanks 🙏 heaps.

Simple. Thanks. A question (residential pool application): All else being equal, if pH stayed at 7.2, the ORP should drop over time, as the chlorine is used-up/deteriorates/oxidizes, correct? So couldn't you just add enough chlorine to raise the ORP to back above 700, in stead of using recommended free chlorine levels? (You'd, of course, have to add acid to get the pH back down after adding the chlorine, though?) Thanks

My drinking water bought at the water store is 9.43 with an ORP of -20 using this device. The ORP took at least 1 min to go below 0. According to your description that means more free electrons. Is that a positive attribute ?

Hi Mike! This video discusses using ORP as an indicator of sanitization efficiency. Ideal ORP readings can vary greatly depending on the application.

How about aquaculture ORP ?

Great explanation. Can you add a test with Cyanuric acid present please to show the effect of CYA on ORP?

I read a paper that said that ORP varies diurnally with CYA present; i. e., at high Noon, the ORP will be lower than it will be at Midnight. Apparently, the HOCL bonds with CYA in the presence of UV radiation (think hiding out under a sun umbrella), and is slow to release itself from the CYA to go oxidize/sanitize. When the sun sets, HOCL detaches from CYA and becomes more readily available, so your ORP will be higher, all else being equal.

Please How we can prepare soil extract portion for testing ORP by same way

Or How we can measure ORP in soil sample (soil :water portion ) ?

So adding chlorine highers ORP or lowers it? And does it higher PH or lower it?

Chlorine is basic, like 13 (?), so it should lower it, but I am not sure. I wish she tested the water before adding anything!
