Hi Roger I like your vedio,.U are doing good work in helping others in plantng, after that I have purchased 2 new Orchid in October 2018. The seller doesn't know the type of Orchid if u will say I will send a pic of the plant.I have planted in pine berk.I want to know that in summer 44* deg celceus(highest) and in night 35 will be there they can do well or not .If we can put indoor then they can survive .Some one is saying that Dendrobium can survive in this temp.please let me know.

Some orchids do ok in high heat as long as the humidity stay very high too - others will just stop growing as this is a form of 'stress' to them.

Trigonopus: “With age, the stems turn yellow or purplish brown.” Purplish brown seems great to describe your plant. “When repotting, the old canes should not be removed as they continue to bloom for several years.” What is the Den. you wanted? Maybe I can find it at an orchid show here and we can be Den. twins. I’m loddigesii twins with Terry; he has a big, bushy plant.

Yes, the hirsute dens lose their leaves in the fall. As long as the canes are not skinny and wrinkled, your plant is fine. They also like as much light as a cat.
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai7 жыл бұрын
My pussy cats like quite low light (teehee). Good to know - I think last year it reached a 'mature state' for the first time so lost it's leaves as winter approached. The year before, it didn't drop it's leaves which is why I was worried. I'll see what happens as this year progresses.

Hi Roger, I saw this older video about nobiles and was looking for some advice. So far, I've killed two. I buy them in bloom and wait until the blooms fall off and there is a small new growth before repotting. Then I water about once a week letting them dry out in between but for some reason the last two stopped growing and the canes really dried up (leaves dropped) then eventually the the older large canes rotted. I have one right now that is almost out of blooms, still has beautiful green leaves but the large canes are really shriveling. There are 2 small new growths so I'm going to repot it today and check the roots. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai5 жыл бұрын
The main reason the nobile hybrids fail is the massive amount of stress they get from leaving their perfect world in the nursery, transport to market, transport to some warehouse and stored in poor conditions, transport to point of sale - again, probably not looked after there and then finally, bought and brought home (more transport and another change of environment). Newer canes that are shrivelling are getting de-hydrated. This normally means an unhappy root system or less likely, just not getting enough water. If it's potted in that coconut type media, it's probably just too wet - this often looks totally dry on the top but is still soggy below the surface. I've had orchids in that stuff that have stayed wet for 3 weeks! Try putting your hand over the top of the pot, turn it up-side-down and gently lift the pot off to see what's going on. I suspect the problem will be in the pot.

Ok, I'll check it out and let you know what I find.

hi, Roger. Just wanted to ask you for advice. My dendrobium nobile had its rest, buds just started to grow and I managed to break the only cane with buds. A week or two after the plant stared to grow first new growth from the base. So what should I do, leave a plant in cooler room a bit longer and hope for new buds, or take it to the warmer room and let it grow?
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai7 жыл бұрын
If you have other mature unbloomed canes, it may be worth continuing the rest for a few more weeks. But once the new growths start, they will grow a bit while it's resting by taking energy from the other canes but really you should start watering a bit and gradually increase the frequency. All of my 'resting' Dens are still resting but I started their rest quite late - 2nd week of Jan. I do have some buds showing but the rest will have to stop soon or I will be loosing some of the growing season. I don't have new growths showing on these yet. My nobiles are now pushing strong growths and most are in full bloom.

I'll keep this list handy and cross reference it with a list I found a while ago. I recognise quite a few of them but they are almost impossible to get in the EU - they only come up rarely and when they do, they are often very young plants. Thanks for this.

Hey Roger, just so you know I got in touch with a nursery from Thailand that will be exposing in Germany in March. so I ordered about 8 orchids from them that would be send to me then from Germany in March. Anyhow, I told my neighbour and she did a small order to join me as well so we can get discount on shipping. if you interested I can send you the link for the seller. I happen to ordered from them before on ebay and I got great fully grown orchid for not much. I was impressed with and that's why I'm ordering more and telling you about it. Anyhow, let me know if interested.
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai7 жыл бұрын
I would be definitely interested. It could get complicated trying to separate/post on to multiple people but I'm sure it could be sorted. How would orders from separate people get combined to save on the postage?
@cillaestevinho7 жыл бұрын
I don't think we will be able to share the postage as we are fair away. Unless you want pay a visit and pick up orchids from here. You are welcome too. But I think that if you mention you are ordering because I ordered it too and you channel on KZbin you may get a discount or somenthjng. Anyway, I will send you a email with the info. 🖒
