He (Denis) was stuck for months in the UK after his infant child was born prematurely. The money from the gig he was flown over quickly ran out but luckily he could still do limited engagements. What ultimately ended up happening was a completely improv, spastic performance in Edinburghfrom by a man who thought his kid was going to die. Afterwards, he returned home with his living and healthy child. When he hit the states, he ran with the act. He called it; "No cure for cancer."

He toured with the act when he hit the states. It's not uncommon for comedians to do relevant acts for years at a stretch, perfecting them from performance to performance. By the time the act is even considered to be optioned for filming (unless, perhaps, the filming is self-produced by a superstar - as with Eddie Murphy) it's been performed countless times up one side, and down the other then back around again. No Cure For Cancer was first performed in 1990, it was broadcast around '93.
