@user-ez9ng2rw9c2 жыл бұрын
@@helenivanic1628 Yep. Nadal and that guy have actually had a history of mutual dislike. Nadal once said that he didn't want to play under him ever again, and it took a while for them to even have a decent working relationship. Calling him biased for Nadal was pretty dumb on Shapo's part.
@minyrar71072 жыл бұрын
@@helenivanic1628 No, he is not the same. This is Carlos Bernades. The umpire of the 2019 US Open mens final was Ali Nili. Nadal y Bernades have their own history. Back in 2015, Nadal requested the ATP for Bernades not to be assigned to his matches for a couple of months. They do have a good relationship, but at the time, Rafa understood it was better for both of them not to be on court at the same time. Everyone seems to forget too easily the positive aspects of Denis Shapavalov, he's only 23, he's ranked in the top twenty(or higher, sometimes top 10) in the world, he has one of the best one hand back hands in mens professional tennis, there is literally only 3-4(if that) players between Canada and the U.S.A ranked higher than him, his service style is so smooth and fluent up through his legs providing him clean power and direction. These commentators were a bit irritating. What they said about Shapovalov needing to have better mental composure was correct. However, they seem to forget that he is still fairly young, and everyone expresses frustration differently. Every little irate reaction he had, they jumped on it and called him out on it. Yes, he may go overboard a bit with his reactions at times, but it's understandable when you see how he was playing that day and you know how he is capable of playing when he is on
@georgeednie77232 жыл бұрын
I think the point is that Shapo's a great player and his reactions, while sometimes understandable, often will completely derail his ability to be great. It's kinda upsetting watching a talented player implode like that. The loss in this match was purely a mental thing and by the 5th set he ended up just wildly spraying errors all over the place and, in this case, possibly cost himself a grand slam. And yeah he's young, but the bottom line is he's just hurting himself over and over again. I think some players find that getting angry and ranting and raving makes them play better (like McEnroe). Denis is not one of those players.
