I'm Nigerian and my best friend and her family are Filipino so I get the best food in the world. Mexican rice is the closest to Nigerian jollof. Senegalese and Gambian jollof are not the same - theirs taste kind of sweet like they put sugar and ours in Nigeria is about the mixed flavour. I have never eaten Colombian food and used to have a Colombian housemate but she was here only a few months. Ogbono and pounded yam or fufu are my favourite followed by amala and ewedu or okra. Moi moi in leaf taste better though. Asaro - yam porridge is also very good. Now let me go make eba - gari and eat with ogbono.

So I’m Congolese-American (Brazzaville Congo 🇨🇬) and my boyfriend is Nigerian-American, also Yoruba. He doesn’t understand (neither does my mom lol) why egusi has a chokehold over my life 😂😂. He likes it but not as much as me. And he wasn’t the one who put me on. I’ve had too many Nigerian friends in my life till this day, and my best friend was the one who put me on years ago. Abacha is an acquired taste. Its just sliced, cooked and dried cassava butas a fermented taste because of the ogiri added to it. I think of it like a sort of Kimchi.
