Sorry for cutting Valse de Niglos at the end. We got a copyright strike because the playing was way too accurate; the algorithm matched it to one of the Ferret recordings. I also got a copyright notice for last week’s Django solo on Minor Swing, so two in a row is not fun. Thanks again to Stringphonic Guitars in Osaka for lending us these guitars for our tour! Be sure to stop by their headquarters if you’re ever in Japan. Duved’s lessons (and all of DCMS) are on end of year sale at the moment (2023) www.dc-musicschool.com/ stringphonic.com/

Merci les "Double D" Denis & Duved ! Interview incroyable ! Mmmm... Delicious !

Duved is hands down one of the best swing jazz players of today. What i like is that he doesn't blatenly copy the old style players but makes his own unique sound. To bad he doesn't have a lot of recordings or live footage of playing solo's on the original django tunes like: see you in my dreams, coquette, blues en mineur, all of me, sweet georgia brown.. WHY?? Would be fun to steal ideas from his solo's but live he only plays tunes i've never heard of
@DenisChangMusic Жыл бұрын
He doesn’t do it for artistic reasons, but he does them for DC Music School, they’re all on discount at the moment and everything is fully transcribed

@@DenisChangMusic Yes I can understand that playing those songs over and over again can get quite dull and it's also a breath of fresh air to see someone play new songs are compose something original

@@Ludwig_Coxhe said in this very interview that he doesn't play songs if he feels he has nothing to say. perhaps he feels he has nothing to say about those songs.

are there any recordings of musette being performed in the way it used to be played.
@DenisChangMusic Жыл бұрын
I’m not an expert on that but maybe trying searching for recordings from the 20s 30s in France?

Volume 1 of the complete Django recordings does have a lot of recordings of him playing the popular music of his day!

The challenge for artists is to be of their time. Considering the challenges facing humanity today with the global spiritual war of souls versus the soul-less, weaponized artificial intelligence, you would think somebody would write music that addresses these issues. I find in the current generation of gypsy jazz guitarists, there is a heck of a lot of facility but little or no poetry aka compassion, empathy, humor and most importantly divine intervention. So boys & girls, I highly suggest that you put down your Smartphone and start observing and listening to the sounds of Nature...before it's too late!

What bars are you guys going to and playing acoustically? In my area of the US there's not much of a music in bars culture, so when it's there, it's rarely good, and people just talk loudly and musicians play amplified no matter how small the place is! It's almost unheard of to play live acoustically outside of classical which is a shame!

A minor 7th is not a 'true minor'. It is actually a Major with its 6th in the root. For example, Dm7 is actually F6. Dm7 is actually a F triad with a D in the bass. The minor chords that people should be playing are either a minor triad, minor 6th or Minor major 7th.
