I'm so sad that they're retiring all of these old horses, I always loved the quarter gallop and the morab trot (gen 2 starter horse model). I'm pretty sure I'm not the only player who have a big emotionnal attachment with the old horses, I mean they have to be deleted if we want the game to progress but they've been a part of our childhood, it's sad to see them go.

The game I paid for was full of fantasy and magical vibes. It was so nice running around, doing interesting quests, having things to do every week… I particularly miss the old grass and walls in the nature. It was a little blurred and the walls looked really old. I loved this ! And it was a whole other ambiance. I remember when we used to have fun events like St Patrick, Valentine’s Day (rather week but-) where we had to create groups to do the race… I also remember when a new horse came out… it was craziness all around, everyone was here as soon as the servers opened, everyone buying the horses, like some sort of fever ! Buying a horse was meaningful. It was really something. But now… tomorrow we get to have the new Shires… last month we had the Haflinger… plain boring.

While i love the horses we’ve been getting, they just don’t feel special. Its like the same coats on a different breed and nobody has enough to buy them anyways since they come out so often. I just wish that ever other horse they released was a story quest instead. Logging on for a story update instead of looking at the new horse you dont have enough for

It took me only one hour to finish it, and I read all the dialogues and failed many times in the quests… only ONE HOUR ! But here is my thought : SSO always say, in their ads, « Oh look we have up to 6500 quests ! » when true, good, long video games (RPGs) prefer saying « This game offers you (any number over 12) hours of gaming » !

I joined in 2012. And honestly I have the same feeling on these guys. I rode my black AQH for years even after I started buying others like my Icelandic and Pintabian. I still ride him sometimes but with the bugs it's honestly just frustrating to ride them because they glitch into the ground, bug when jumping so you hit everything and they're just bothersome to look at. I think SSO is making the right choice removing them, but us OGs will always have these cute little crusty horses that we know and love from our childhoods.

imo they need to work on quests and more areas instead of releasing new horses every week. no shit they get removed because they’re lacking space because they only focus on bringing out new horses and gaining more money. they don’t have to remove horses when they just stop releasing 482938 horses a year and start updating their game, like quests and areas.

So, we will not be able to buy new horses when they come out.

Updating their game with anything, even quests and areas while the old horse models stay in the game isn't wise. Sso has reached an "Entity limit" So... Really if they wanted to get any sort of "new thing" something that uses broken code would need to be removed.

SSO have big issues with quests and yet again the older players with max player XP causing them problems. They can't do big story lines until they work out a new XP system...players that are lvl 21+ will become super players with levels much higher than others if they keep adding loads of new quests. They had to change the past XP by removing older quests last time they added new areas like Mistfall. If they add new quests with no player XP people will be mad. I think that is what they are scared of and haven't even started to think about how to fix it!

i joined in 2013 and these horses just remind me of such better times. when we saw the trailer and saw that these horses GRAZED, we went crazy. they remind me of when sso was in its prime and i was always on skype with my best friends, hanging out for 12+ hours a day on sso and doing championships all day. it makes me so sad that they’re leaving even though i don’t really play anymore.

I go through phases with this game. Like as someone who has not logged on in maybe 8 months but still watches your videos, the changes are CRAZYYY to me. Like I remember I found out they allowed non star riders to jump and I was like WHAT?? Idk this game brings back a lot of nostalgia but I can't play it anymore it feels so wonky. And I remember being devastated when I couldn't race with the old quarters anymore LMFAOOO

I agree on the ruining of childhood. I understand they are making the game better and change is good. But having those older horses is a lot of players childhood. It also stinks when they get rid of horses that maybe future players would like, example the Fjords. I know a lot of players who wish they could have gotten one but they weren't the right level for them or joined after they left. Again I understand change is good but to me they could keep these horses and just keep one horse of the breed in game instead of multiple since we have the new buy horse screen that gives the choice for other coats.

I joined this game I think a little while after the original fjords came out. These horses were the first horses I got to see come out while playing. The paint horse you called a carrot was the first horse I maxed. I treasure my bay quarter and my red paint. Those were my favorite horses. I'm glad that they are updating horses, but sad they are removing the older ones. As bad as there animations are, I can never forget all the fun I had riding them around. My carrot paint will hold a very special place in my heart ❤️

As sad as it is, it's probably for the best. Especially when it comes to SSO keeping a new standard for their game's art style and upgrading equipment. With the old models bugging out often with the new system, it's no wonder why they want to stop using time to fix old buggy models, when they could be working on getting their other graphic and system updates finished, especially new MSM (Main story missions). If anything I'm more worried about the fact they said there could be a possibility that No One will be able to keep the old models if the total deletion was necessary because of their equipment. They said it wasn't likely, but it still something they are preparing for if it ever does need to happen. People paid SC which is bought with actual Money by many who wanted to grab the old models before they go, so it better be something grand as I highly doubt they'll offer refunds.

I'm concerned that our new updated characters won't actually be even able to ride the old gen horses. I've asked sso bout this, + they said they hope so, but can't t say for sure. Like, they happy to keep getting money off of us for these old horses, but we might not be able to ride them even ☹️

Exactly. There is this pressure being placed on many to choose either to buy them or not, because these old models do hold a lot of good memories for many which gives them a actual value to us while risking the chance of regretting spending that money (Digital and real) after they have to be deleted or deemed completely un-rideable. Again SSO better have something good in store to compensate for wasted money because they seemed unbothered in the slightest about continuing to pressure users into buying these models regardless of the risk that'd come with it.

thinking about how fun i used to have in this game for hours a day, and now getting bored after 10 min even tho i only logg in once every 6 months is so sad it almost makes me wanna cry. I had so fun doing the quests, riding around the world and everything. Now, even when we do get quests they rarley get completed and just feel so much more empty? like the characters are´nt as well developed anymore bc it feels like they barely put any time into the quests that they actually make. So sad to see a game so precious to me go off the rails like this.

They're only getting rid of the old horses because of their obviously old game engine. They either refuse to try and update or because they just don't feel like it because they're lazy, or because they think getting a slightly better game engine will be more expensive (if they do actually get a new and better game engine, they'd probably have to close the game for maintenance, or I've heard that they could still have the game up, but it would be a version that wouldn't be able to be updated, still playable, though). That's most likely why the oldies are getting removed. I used to own the blue roan QH, btw, but long before the new QH's arrived I did sell him. I don't even remember what I named him since it was so long ago. The old QH was a staple part of when SSO was trying to expand their horse making horizons. It was the 1st horse in the game that had different animations, open mouth, and flowy moving ears. That horse was the biggest step into the future of SSO the game had received. When the old QH's came to the game, it was a huge deal. The QH was the 1st horse that was opening up what we've seen today with all the other horses in the game. That horse was special and still is. Same could be said for the classic Fjord horse as many people thought they were extremely special, too. :3

Making a game with an entirely new engine would mean basically building the game up by scratch. It isn't that sso is lazy, but the time, effort, and long hours that it woupd take in making the game fit the level of what the writers the devs, and the community want it to be. The company that runs Sso, as in the financial heads do not want to waste money on fixing things or reworking a broken system. Rattle explains it much better than I can.

@@MelloriNoMori You have a point, it would take time, some effort, and some money to move things over to another game engine. But somebody else had said that SSO could freeze the game on one branch, but also work on moving assets over into a newer engine. In the frozen branch it can't and won't be updated. But it'll however still be playable like normal. Just no updates. That way people can keep playing and giving them money while they work on the new engine getting things ready. I could see that kinda working out. They desperately need a new engine. Imagine that, a new engine. With greater power to hopefully improve the game better. Maybe we'll get more areas, big areas, with bigger surprises. I know that SSO has been doing it's best, but seeing as even a huge update could break the game. I remember one time when Fort Pinta actually got its beach updated for the 1st time and I couldn't actually see anything. I could see people running on air. And for them, I'd be literally under the ground and them wondering why I was under there. XD Some large-ish updates have made the game a bit buggy. But with a newer engine, it probably would be less likely to happen. I really hope that SSO gets a new engine, maybe they won't, Idk. But I hope they do something before that old engine completely gives out. Also, I've watched Rattle, too, she's really informed on the situation. I haven't seen all of her videos, but I've seen a few about SSO's issues. :3

I’ve played Star Stable for God knows how long, close to a decade but not yet , and I remember when the aqh was the first ever horse to have such fluent animations. It was the beginning of a new path in Star Stable animation, and when they were released, I was so excited to buy them. The amount of change Star Stable is going through is emotional, but also depressing at the same time. It’s sad to see the old generation horses going.

Back there when sso had not much variety, the model and animation of the appaloosa/morgan/quarter horses were my favorite. I usually don't care much when old models are removed and I totally understand the reasons behind removing them from the game but these still have quality to me. I will miss them, but I dont see why I would buy them now because I would prolly never run with them again and the chance sso will screw them up somehow and not fix them is possible LOL (I have some though)

The showmanship quarters (the ones we have in game now), I do not like them. In have 2 in game and one of them is literally my favorite horse, however he doesn't represent true, well bred quarter horses. so I really like the rats

I bought the same horse as SpaceGaze as my third SSO horse and called them RoyalBeauty, and omg I loved that horse the most! The run was the best (like you said the agressive run made you feel like you were racing!!!) and I fell in love with the ears the way they bounce up and down when you trot. My heart shattered when SSO "broke" them and they became glitchy...changing the jump etc. If I ride her now all I say is "please still have the ears!". I get why they changed these horses as they were the speed demons!!!...but from then on they were broken and only the memories of these beauties remained! I think it is worth buying them if they meant something to you. My RoyalBeauty will always be my fav SSO horse

Not only is it sad about the gen 2 AQH retiring, but I'm also extremely worried about the gen 2 morgens which are my favorite. I already bought the palomino and blue roan ones before they're gone forever. I really love all horse models. They're not really ugly in my opinion, I sometimes ride on my gen 2 paint horse a lot, not caring what other people think (even though no one approached me about my horse or avatar and I'm always invisible.) but I can understand why some people dislike the old models.

God, I joined when the first north american server (nightstar) so like 2012 or so? Unfortunately I don't have most of my old horses anymore, it's my biggest regret so far. The game has evolved so much it's practically a different game, and I'm happy that it's reaching it's full potential, but part of me will always miss the old sso. I think after a few more years of updates I'll make a alt account and play the game like it's brand new, when you get a new game and try it out for the first time it's just... Magic I guess I'll never be able to get that feeling about old sso,so I'll try with new sso and learn to appreciate it separately, as a new adventure

They're removing all the old models, all of them, and personally I don't mind; I'm an OG player too and sure it's "our childhood" but nostalgia doesn't mean it was ever good, old SSO compared to new SSO sucked. Instead of being stuck in the past I'm excited for the future.

Omg, I felt the same :( I won't be able to get enough star coins to get a gen 2 quarter before they will be gone, so now I'm hoping that star stable puts a new staar coins code for christmas this year and that they will retire appaloosas or american paints from gen 2 only after christmas so that I can buy one and keep it as a beautiful childhood memory. I've already bought: a gen 1 arabian, a gen 1 jorvik pony, a gen 2 arabian, gen 2 lipizzanner, gen 2 friesian, gen 2 thoroughbred, because I know that some day star stable will delete them too.

I do not think that sso will retire the paints or appaloosa's, because they have not had the updated model as long as the quarter horse. The paint and Appaloosa are still relatively new, while the AQH has been updated for atleast 2 years

Its weird, as much as I was attached to those horses, I really dont want to ride broken horses anymore. I dont want broken horses in my stable, plus Ive fallen inlove with all of the new quarters. So for me it wasn't hard to let go of the old ones. I just wish they'd bring back to the old coats to the g3 models.

I basically joined this game when it first came out, the quarters and paints are my childhood as well. I hate what they’re doing to this game. I ended up quitting when they broke the horses all because people complained about them being faster. I also remember the price drop happens around the time they broke the horse so they were easy to get but new players hated the horse and hated that it was “faster” SSO has no regards for old players anymore. They focus mainly on the new players and giving them what they want, tho some new players also find SSO annoying at times. The destroyed the game and lost so many players. This game isn’t fun. It’s a chore at this point. I’m glad I quit when I did. The horse market isn’t fun, it’s a death trap basically. They send horses there basically to “kill them off” as one would say. I hate the “new star stable” and frankly dislike the game in general. I do have to agree with a KZbinr I watch that I wish they would’ve split the game into two different games. One called “The New Star Stable” and one called “The old StarStable” so older players could still enjoy the game.
