Really nice piece! The amount of details on these are amazing, you really can’t tell the difference between them and real ones unless you look really closely!

Thanks yeh, they do say that if your 6 feet away and it looks OK then job done. I'm 50/50 about denix replicas , the ppsh41 is first rate, others not so...ah well its a good project to work on 🙂🙂

Im still put of action with a bit of an injured wrist,but its getting there..anywhoo ive sorted a couple empty garand charger clips for you for display...touaregs...desert people still exist,Volkswagen named one of their people carriers after them back in the 1990s!! Italy made a bigger copy of the garand,gave it a pair of legs and issued it as a light machine gun..compared to a real garand the denix is an excellent copy and makes a good substitute stand in.considering the working limitations of the denix copies,they have done a reasonable job of the working action but its not quite authentic,it will age up well.i had an old speg garand years ago which had been bored out to .410 shotgun calibre,paid 700 quid for it....and when prices were crazy,sold it for 2 grand.....never had another original as the prices went up and they no longer cock n click...the denix one still gathers dust like a real deac but cheaper!!!

Cheers CJ...hopefully you are on the mend m8...as a fellow manual working type I know the limitations of injuries etc and doing ones job etc. Yeh that would be great the charger clips...I've got something for yourself, just havnt got around to sending it yet. I will chuck the book in also, it's a great read , and apologies to the touareg people but in the early 19th century they didn't take any prisoners....well according to this book...cheers CJ m8, all the very best to you 🙂🙂🙂

Be careful working the bolt on that. I have 2 and the bolts and hammers are broken on both of them. Very soft cast metal. For aging it, or aging anything really, leave some steel wool in a jar of vinegar for a few days, then apply to whatever it is your typing to age

some interesting topics there Stan, like yer coverage, world's a funny place, folks in the US might say, why the heck would you have models, get the real thing, which of course you can't in UK, then you have places like Australia where you can't even get the bloody replicas. Yes, okay, some states are a bit more lenient than others re replicas but by crikey there are still hoops to jump through and licences to pay for, onya cobber ...
@steelhelmetstan7305
@steelhelmetstan7305 Ай бұрын
Thanks as always Steve. Yeh the uk gun laws are strict but strange, deacs , replicas, replica air guns , blank firing types all legal to buy with certain caveats. I know a guy at work who has a firearms cert and he uses old ww2 service rifles for target work so they can be accessed , bolt action I think, as long as you havnt a criminal record etc. I don't need to be at that level, it would be a further drain on my finances firstly and secondly the stuff I have suits my purposes for my collecting and historical interests, in my opinion a good replica is the only alternative for me because the deac version is too expensive. Anyway Steve m8, that's my four penny worth 🤣🤣🤣

@@CodyandSteveDownUnder cheers Steve....I remember years ago I was in a country New South Wales town and there was an antique/junk/military, outdoor/bookshop....my kind of place🙂🙂, they were selling a large and fairly detailed remote control model of a german ww2 tiger tank, with real smoke and engine noises.....there was also a large sticker slapped on the front saying something like...'bb firing cannon disabled for the Australian market'....just made me think 🤔...that seems a bit too far...ah well I suppose the powers that be know what is best for our own good 🤔🤔🤔
@CodyandSteveDownUnder

@@steelhelmetstan7305 it just gets worse here mate. We have new legislation about German ww2 insignia. The example they give as a guide is remote control model aircraft if German ww2, must have insignia removed. But worse. If you have a model spitfire with kill symbols on it, they must be removed too. The world is k..led old mate.

@@CodyandSteveDownUnder yes I have seen videos of that on youtube....I've said before I had tinkered with the idea of retirement over in Australia....but this would be 'one' of the reasons I would think twice.....I mean what next?....this also means I presume that no symbols of the 3rd reich can be on a cover of a book....if I was still in oz and my wife and I passed away....what happens to all that?, can't be gifted, sold, traded or inherited...so it gets destroyed?, by whom?.... a piece or german ww2 kit with a symbol on that has survived 80+ years to be thrown away, we will learn nothing from this sort of thing.....but i reckon people today don't care about much if it doesn't affect them directly....that is of course until it does and then it's too late!....sorry for the rant m8, cheers 🙂🙂

You won’t find a deac under £1,000 so stick with the Denix when you have aged it it will look great for display I have re worked a couple of my deacs and used Tru Oil stain and then just the clear Tru Oil to finish which you put on in several layers rubbing down with wire wool each time till you get the finish you want

Could have bought a nice IAB for the price that you paid for this reproduction rifle. I keep trying, but failing big time, to understand the appeal of these Denix copies. I must be missing something..!!?? Does the safety switch move? I can see that action breaking before too long. Anyhow, you're pleased with it so that, at the end of the day, is all that matters.

Cheers Al , I do understand your hesitance, they are just models and I only get the ones where the equivalent deac is too pricey , or in this case just outside my area of interest. I don't have a massive yearning for usa or Japanese kit from ww2, don't know why...but there it is....so a denix garand is OK for me and gives me a project to work on. IAB rifle?....what's that when it's at home?, thanks Al 🙂
@Landsturm
@Landsturm Ай бұрын
@@steelhelmetstan7305 Yeah, I get that. I guess the term 'model' is actually a good description and it will enhance your collection nicely. I suppose that I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to repros and the like as I'm not an re-enactor. As a collector, and history buff, I do like the real thing but the prices will be off putting for many collectors, especially the younger ones. IAB means (Wehrmacht) Infantry Assault Badge.
