Denmark's Margrethe Takes Last Carriage Ride In Copenhagen As Queen | Queen Margrethe | N18V
COPENHAGEN, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Denmark's Queen Margrethe II on Thursday defied a cold spell to ride through the streets of Copenhagen in a gold-coated horse carriage for the last time as monarch before handing over the throne to her son Crown Prince Frederik next week.
The 83-year-old queen, who was crowned in 1972, announced on live TV during her traditional New Year's Eve speech that she intends to abdicate the throne, taking many in the country of 5.9 million people by surprise.

Her Majesty Queen Margaret II of Denmark has demonstrated that she is a very wise and intelligent Queen, and who has immense personal qualities and excellent training, which allowed her to keep up with the times in the way she carried out her duties as Queen of Denmark. This certainly difficult , but wise , decision by the Queen to abdicate the throne in favor of her son , will probably allow Crown Prince Frederik to be King at an age with adequate vitality to carry out his duties, and at the same time a way for Queen Margaret to be able to live longer years in health, since she will be freer from so much responsibility and so much work in your daily life. I wish the best for Queen-to-be Mary and King-to-Be Frederick. I dearly wish young royal couples remember : a couple's life is such a long complex pathway with up-and-downs. Then failings, temptations, errors will occur. Inevitably. Humans are imperfect. Casanova is a Disgraceful Road Accident in Queen-to-Be Mary's path, but Casanova is not THE Path of Queen-to-Be Mary. As for the King-to-Be, Casanova is a slippery Temptation for Novelty out of Male Infatuation. A typical banal blunt reality. I sincerely hope Queen-to-Be Mary and King-to-Be Frederick could apprehend that ''faux-pas'' in order to move on with their new dutiful role that lies ahead for the sake of Danish Royalty as they will be under international scrutiny. I respectfully bow before Queen Margareth II for her Wisdom and far-sighted Vision to abdicate in favor of her son and to remove royal titles from her second line grandchildren.
