LYRICS: The mornin' sun touched lightly on the eyes of Lucy Jordan In her white suburban bedroom, in a white suburban town As she lay there 'neath the covers, dreaming of a thousand lovers 'Til the world turned to orange and the room went spinnin' round At the age of 37, she realised she'd never ride through Paris In a sports car, with the warm wind in her hair And she let the phone keep ringin' as she sat there softly singin' Pretty nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair Her husband, he was off to work, and the kids were off to school And there were oh so many ways for her to spend her day She could clean the house for hours, or rearrange the flowers Or run naked down the shady street screaming all the way At the age of 37, she realised she'd never ride through Paris In a sports car, with the warm wind in her hair And she let that phone keep ringin' as she sat there softly singin' Pretty nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair The evening sun touched gently on the eyes of Lucy Jordan On the rooftop where she'd climbed when all the laughter grew too loud And she bowed and curtseyed to the man, who reached and offered her his hand And led her down to the long white car that waited past the crowd At the age of 37, she knew she'd found forever as they rode along through Paris With the warm wind in her hair Ooooohhh yes with the wind in her hair oooooohhhh.

How many times as women have we fought this battle. When I was 29 l set by my sterio with a bottle of valium in my hand and crying to make God let . me die. Well with 6 children l could not do that, their father took off and left me barely hanging on. Well I am going on 69 now and I raised my children, put them who wanted to go to college. I listened to Dr Hooks group in the very early 70's once again they helped me get through a bad divorce and l played everything l could find on them. Thank you all for listening and may 🙏❤️ God bless them for the songs they sang and we were able to comfort ourselves. Jàcquie B.

+Cindy Rizzato Couldn't agree with you more Cindy. Has there ever been a band with a greater range of music than Dr.Hook? I certainly can't think of one. From the insanity of songs like FREAKERS BALL , GET MY ROCKS OFF, AND I CALL THAT TRUE LOVE , to hauntingly beautiful ballads like I NEVER GOT TO KNOW HER, I CAN'T TOUCH THE SUN , and STUCK ON THE WRONG SIDE OF LOVE,just to name a few. And to think that most people who have heard of Dr. Hook, have never heard most of these song. If they only knew what they were missing. It saddens me that Dr. Hook never received the recognition and respect that they so richly deserved. Count me also as "StillHooked".
@CindyRizzato9 жыл бұрын
xxxbarflyxxx Well said! I am still mesmerized by them.... after all these years. If I click on a song, I'm lost the rest of the night listening to all of their music. There are many days, one only can wrap oneself in the music of songs they are filled with empathic in musical notations. Often their is noone there who would share the feelings, but music of such talented singers at least, can dissolve the knot in ones throat. It is like a little warmth stroke ones heart even it is just for shorts minutes. How many Lucie Jordans and maybe "John Jordan"'s are living in these world? Maybe in my last seconds of life, I will and can remind mysellf of this comfort...

Dr Hook are one of the most artistic bands of all time, maybe helped by Shel's brilliant lyrics/songs - they were classic and they loved performing - you must watch on U-Tube their performance in Shel's house boat,singing The Colonial Boy, and Carry me Carrie - absolute blasters - high as kites, as you need to be (so I am told!) when you sing so brilliantly.

Astonishingly brilliant singer, band and song writer. I met Dennis at a local gig in Surrey England, a couple of years ago and asked why he didn't sing this song (fantastic great gig, by the way). He said that it was Marianne Faithful's song now. Although her version is terrific, and probablyy career -defining for her, this is different, and in my opinion better - although I love both of them.
