As a 36 year old who watched hoops my entire life, who truly understand & respects the game, studies it's history & constantly rewatches classic games: I believe this is the top bball channel on youtube. The script, the footage, editing, the way you present the story behind the topics in a clear, direct way, that doesn't sensationalize , it's all just A+ man. Fantastic stuff, loving seeing those subscribers jump for you.

@eddieG667 bro! I definitely don't have to re-watch to remember. Dennis Rodman and Shawn Kemp is who I molded my hoop game after. Rodman didn't give 2 shits when it came to getting that basketball. There were times when this man would belly flop onto the hardwood for that ball. Dennis Rodman makes draymond green look like a f***in care bear. Rodman feared nothing and no one. Once again... tears 😢

@@hoodpimp1519Bill Russell played in a league with 8 teams. Bill Russell played when there was no lottery to presumably distribute talent evenly. The Captain played when key that looked like a skeleton keyhole (that's why they call it the key); thus there no lane violation for shot-blockers who simply camped out under the rim. Bill also played long before the neutral-zone crescent so again, a driver couldn't really get airborne without a charge getting called. Bill Russell was a left-handed person playing against drivers who were almost exclusively right-handed. Bill Russell's teammate was Hondo, who got his name because he wound hound his man on defense. I love Bill Russell with all of my heart. He means much to me as a pioneer and more to me as a man. But Rodman, the 6'6" overachiever, is the best defender ever. You can't make a case for Wilt by virtue of some similar rubrics. And despite the fact that we can't fault Wilt for being born when he was born or that he was naturally equipped for blocking shots because he was basically a human Apollo aircraft (tall, lean with rockets in his heels) we also have to consider other intangibles. Wilt would block shots out of bounds instead of to his teammates. Killing a shot is a good balance and check but killing a possession is chess. Wilt was also prone to jumping himself out of a play. 1 fake and he's jumped from the hoop all the way out above the free throw line. And let's be honest. Wilt would've banged with Shaq. That would be fun to watch. But Shaq got pretty well contained by a 6'6", 210lbs Worm. Wilt would've gotten even more frustrated and taken out of his game because he couldn't get his way.

Dennis could play any position on the court and do it well. Who else could do that? He can score but he perferred to attack the rim, dish out assists and tap ins. He was also a superb passer. Then there was the psychological side of his game. Players would lose their focus and composure. Technicals would soon follow. MJ knew how special Dennis was. Without him, I doubt theyd have a second 3-peat. MJ & Rodman have high respect for each other. Mike was able to motivate him to play at high level, based on his skills and high bb IQ. Great video! I don't know if the NBA ever had a better defender, pound for pound, than Dennis Rodman, but I sometimes wonder if Bill Russell and Rodman represent the pinnacle, two defensive legends for all time. One managed to consistently defeat Wilt Chamberlain's teams, the other consistently gave Shaq, Chamberlain's inheritor, fits. Personally, I think Chamberlain's domination of his sport dwarfs that of Shaq, so Russell's achievement stands out. But I watched Rodman over his entire career, and I've never seen a harder competitor, more aggressive rebounder, or smarter defender. Shutting Shaq down at 6' 7", 220 lbs. is more badass than badass.

You showed kindness... weakness by helping up someone from the other team. By that point in MJ's career, he wasn't Phil, but he was coaching and molding HIS team. I just wonder if that was one of his directives/rules for the team? If you foul someone, don't ever help them up. Wouldn't surprise me if that's how it was. When he played with MJ he didn't feel that way, they had a good working relationship. His jealousy came out after because he wanted to be put on MJ level. That was never going to happen. Outside of that, name another teammate (I'll wait) that had issues with MJ? They might not have liked him, but they all respected how hard he pushed them and most them understand if he didn't push them they would've never reached the level of greatness they all did. Go listen to how Kukuc, Rodman, or Kerr talk about MJ. They have nothing but good things to say. Hell, Kerr believe that part of the success hes had after his playing days is from playing beside MJ. And if you can read I said ownership killed the team, so yes the Lakers leadership was better! And what does Phil getting fired have to do with him being the final piece to getting those Shaq/Kobe team over the hump? And him getting fired had nothing to do with him being a bad coach, it was more about relationships souring! And the second time if I recall he resigned from the Lakers. But I think if you ask anybody with a brain stem they will tell you that the Lakers probably don't 3peat without Phil there. Nice video. 2 inaccuracies here however. (Respectfully of course) Regarding the Shaq / Rodman scuffle - Rodman wasn’t the instigator, but he was the retaliator. Most clips of this incident don’t show the whole context. It’s JEROME KERSEY that instigates the whole thing by pulling the ball out of Rodman’s hands after the whistle. Kersey is a vet who had his share of antics. Rodman got baited, so he went after him and that’s where Shaq got involved. In terms of Shaq getting “shut down”and Rodman being the primary reason, please watch the game or at least the 2nd half in its entirety and form your own opinions. To me, it was the aggressive full court press that was the primary reason for Shaq having zero. You’ll see that there are stretches of the game where Shaq doesn’t even receive the ball in the post. Del Harris was over his head and didn’t adjust to the press which was mostly an officiating issue as Randy Brown, Pippen, and the rest of the Bulls were able to be physical with ball handlers. Harris never brought it up to the refs as he was stymied. At the very least, if he didn’t try to adjust the calls, he should’ve instructed his players to do the same when Chicago got the ball. Just make it a free throw game until the refs decide to clean it up.

@@lamefart I can give you more links if I weren't so lazy where you can make a similar video of Greg Ostertag, Vlade, and even Malik Rose. Malik didn't have half of Rodmans size or athleticism and was the size of a guard. Why do small players tend to do well vs Shaq? It's because they get a huge officiating advantage where they draw offensive fouls and Shaq gets passive. NOBODY was Jordan where he only had a few almost meaningless games where you can say he was "shut down". Everyone else like Shaq, Kareem, Magic, Bird, etc you can find games where they struggled and can give credit to someone like Malik Rose, but you have to also look at the factors around them. With Rose, he had good rim protectors, and good perimeter defenders to disrupt entry passes into the post. Now, can Rose stop Shaq if those things weren't around, I don't think so.

Best role Shaq ever played as an actor wasn't Kazaam. It was in one of the 'Scary Movie' sequels where the jigsaw character has him and Dr Phil chained up in a cell. There's a hoop with the hacksaw hanging off the contraption, A pile of bricks is there... Shaq Attaq is pretty effing funny. Same goes for Rodman, The Worm. We don't really get to see players like that much these days. Where they were just being themselves and having fun. Dominating night in night out. PC culture ruined the true vibe from the 70s progressively to today. Remember that you once were able to hear how brutal the trash talk was. Have to go see it live now. But, NBA has been fine happy. Everyone has to mind ps&qs. It's hard to say if the new era are better than the last. MJ, Kobe, LeBron, Lew Alcindor, Russell, West. It's a tough call. The thing of it is, Wilt and Shaq and Oscar Robertson. Most physically dominant players ever. Toss the others to the back of the list. It's because the new guys get fouls every time. Even Shaq didn't get the same fouls as the others. They called it a 'Hack a Shack' defense because he sucks at free throws. O'Neal could've been scoring 50+ point average. 15-20 boards. League told them no. Better not do that. Another stat that should be acknowledged, No three point for a few of those guys. Namely Wilt. He could hit 35-40 foot shots. Shoots them like a free throw at halfcourt, Jerry and Oscar were about the same. He shot underhand at the free throw line. Granny shot. Just being a little bit of a dude. Subtle insult. Think 85 they brought the three point line? I may be wrong. Back in the days of old? Top of the key was three. Not for Wilt. Long winded response, I probably missed a thing or two. I love basketball. I don't know anybody who does. Liking your channel.
