If Rodman played against Draymond, Draymond would get kicked out in about 5 minutes each game. Dennis was one of the best defensive players ever, ad next to Wilt, maybe the best rebounder ever. And he could get in your head easily. As weak as Draymond is, it wouldn't take much for Dennis to get in his head and it's game over.
@Kashed
@Kashed 6 ай бұрын
Rodman was one of the few players I saw actually defend Shaq and be a factor. Now, you can’t stop the Diesel but, Dennis would throw him off his game and get rebounds that Shaq would normally have gotten. He would make Shaq much less of a factor in the game. It may not show up in the stats but, he was effective. In the 12 games they played vs each other Dennis averaged 17.2 rebounds.

I would have worm in my all-time starting five. Its easy to find 5 offensive weapons but hard to find another guy that takes all his pride from defense and is such an out of scale athlet and has borderline defense skills. This guy does not wanna have the ball in his hand beside the rebound. In that era then he was pure gold!

Dennis is one of the very few players that defines hard work will result in success, and never give-up attitude very well. The fact that he spent a couple of years as a janitor after high school, and going to a small school to play college ball, and was already in his mid-20s when he was drafted by the Pistons, is astonishing and rarity now. He may had his issues, but he left the game as arguably the greatest rebounder AND defender of all time, and the first player that you'd think of when diving for the ball to preserve a possession and get his guys to make a play.

Despite what Dennis brought off the court he sure as hell made it up on the court. What Michael was to offense, Dennis was to defense. He could cover anybody and if he wanted a rebound he was going to get that rebound. Physically and mentally tough and was willing to do whatever to win. Every great team needs a player like him to get over the hump. He was part of my favorite Bulls team because of how well his skills blended with the team. Everyone wanted him so that they didn't have to play against him.

I laugh at youngsters saying Roman could not play in today's game. While I would agree he might be more of a center in today's game he would dominate because what people forget is that he could guard all the positions. Like a James, Pippen, Artest etc. that skillset is absolutely invaluable in an era of basketball. NBA offense are all about trying to get mismatches by setting screens and exploiting the mismatch, but if you have a player on your team that is an elite athlete and has that certain size of around 6"7 to 6"9 that can't be exploited it is a HUGE thing and advantage.

Rodman was the greatest rebounder o fall-time, the most versatile defender of all-time, arguably one of the Top 5 defenders all-time although that shouldn't be an argument, and one of the hardest players of all-time. He never took a night off while on the court and never took a play off. He would probably average 20 RPGs in today's NBA but get ejected on a weekly basis, lol but true... he would whoop Draymond Green's @ss at some point. Don't forget also that Rodman sat out during layup drills & warm-ups to study how each player's ball rotated and came off the rim. His job was to rebound & play defense and he focused 100% on being the best he could be at those two assignments. Instead of "The Worm" he should've been dubbed "The Wizard", IMO. Another Great video!

If you want to make the case that Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain were statistically better rebounders than Dennis, sure, you would be correct. But two things: 1) look how much taller those two were than him; and 2) they didn't rebound as cool as Dennis could. Dennis added a coolness, a style, a flair to his rebounding. Those karate kicks in the air, those relentless multiple tips before he would finally snag it, the coming out of nowhere to grab a missed shot. Dennis made rebounding look as cool as a Michael Jordan highlight-reel slam dunk. You just can't say that about Russell or Chamberlain.
