Dennis was married 5 times. He married Lamm twice. Everyone forgets what he went thru being involved with Manson. He knew more than we'll ever know. He was afraid to testify. He lived with that guilt for the rest of his life. That was the cherry on the cake.

Christine McVie was pretty! I don't know what the bearded fellow is talking about, and that's really sexist, might I add! He makes it sound like Dennis was just using her, when he was clearly in love with her, and it was, of course, mutual!
@paddington19193 жыл бұрын
It is a little rude for sure. Enamoured to the things around her and not in her beauty? And not a word about her personality? Maybe that was the key. Her personality. Anyway, who knows, I read in Carol Ann's book ( who was Lindsey's girlfriend for years) that one time Dennis told Christine that he slept with Carol Ann, and with another girl who was very close to the band (maybe Sara, but I'm not sure about that) and Carol Ann stood in the book that it wasn't true, and he only told that just to hurt Christine. ( It was also in the book that he wasn't sleeping since days when he said that, because the drugs kept him awake.)

This is heartbreaking. People, this is what the aftermath of abuse looks like. Brian too. I hope Murray Wilson paid for what he did to those guys. Just seeing Dennis in this horrible shape and his talents going down hill is terrible. It really is. The problem is, people see these guys as their heroes and not as human beings. When they're seen in public, its like they get swamped with fans wanting something instead of approaching them as just people and having a regular conversation with them.
@journeythruthepast12 жыл бұрын
Dennis had a lot of pain from his failed relationships, his father's lack of love and abuse towars him. By a certain point he was self-medicating far too much to compensate for this and it truly led to his downfall. He was helpless and it's too bad the Beach Boys unit was too dysfunctional at the time to do anything to curtail it. Dennis was a soulful, generous, caring guy from all I've read but his vices, demons, impulses and naiveness were his downfalls.
@neaituppi7306 Жыл бұрын
As someone that came out of it, before it actually did damage to me physically and mentally. Self medicating, is not why people drink and do drugs. We do it, because it seems fun and gets rid of stress. My family life was probably far worse than the Wilson's. My two brothers never cared about me. I was sent to a boarding school when I was 11, then lived in group homes and foster care. But not because I was even getting into trouble. But because it was a dysfunctional family, to say the least. But no one else and what they did, was the blame for me choosing to drink. I didn't really get into drugs much, because I saw I didn't need them to open my mind. I was already wide open. I started drinking for fun. And I did find that it made me more confident socially. But I stopped when I saw what it would do to me. Many people try to stop after it has already done significant damage to them. It isn't self medicating, it is self poisoning. I have met enough people that used alcohol to the point, they were mentally handicapped. They can't talk or think right, like people that have gotten severe head trauma.

Sorry fans, but besides the fact that Dennis Wilson was an amazingly talented, charismatic, kind person and my best friend, there is a crock of shit going on here on this documentary. Just picture this: This segment begins with my song, It's not too late. These bozos that appear on screen weren't even around at the time that yours truly was producing Bambu for Dennis. It is a long story, but basically after Dennis passed away and I left LA (I was the original producer of Bambu and I wrote the songs that were officially in it), these vultures took-over without my knowledge and here they are indulging their egos as if they had anything to do with it! It is easy to re-write history when the real people that made it aren't around - a big time cheap shot, as Dennis would have said....

I a Brazilian living in LA moved to a condo in Santa Monica,it was september 82. After a while almost every morning going to work there was this guy with a six pack of Colt 45 in his hands,we used to say hello to each other and i went on. Would come back around five sometimes he was there others not.Had no idea who he was,anyway one day got home and he was there at the yard and offer me a beer and that was my first beer with him.We introduce ourselves , Iam Marcos and he said his name Dennis we had a few and chat for almost an hour. Sure I knew The Beach Boys but even being a surfer and some of their songs was never a fan at the time i was 22. Life is funny cause he never once mention who he was besides Dennis,from that day on we became friends and the reason he was there so often , that i ask him. His answer was cause my neighbor a beautiful blonde young girl was his girl,can´t remember her name but was true. From this day on anytime he was there when I got home we drink beer and chat,was really cool. There i was with this guy always barefoot ,drunk but never out of line or looking waisted. Was for me a real fun and sometimes wise new friend, but I felt in his eyes something wasn´t right. After a month we were there drinking and laughing, we talked about Rio. surf Torrance,California women. guys bs. My soon to be wife arrived with her girlfriend and saw us there,her friend was older and also a singer. After few minutes we both said later and i went home. When I got in Mary her friend came running towards me and talking fast eating words,i said ,,what is going on Mary. She took some air and asked me,was funny,Marcos do you know who is that man you were talking with? I answer,sure is my friend Dennis why,it so happen Dennis was like a God to her and that was the day I found out who he was,the founder and drummer player of the Beach Boys. She told me the entire band history, which i only knew the name some of their musics and all from the same family´had no idea who Brian was his illness and etc. Couple of days later saw him and told what had happen,still remember him laughing so loud,he felt good and thought was funny. At the time it made no difference to me he being famous or whatever,he was just Dennis a new good friend that i could say anything i had in mind. I told him,my friend next time Mary comes over you will meet her and give her a kiss,and he did.Remember him asking,Marcos you like Eric Clapton? Said come on Dennis you know I do,he reach out of his pocket two tickets to see Eric at Long Beach and gave to me. The concert was on the next day,me and Jessica went to see and when we got in the Arena a girl with a flash light told us follow me. There we were at the second row few feet away from the stage,what a gift. Remember driving him in his silver BMW cause he was always drunk to Century city going in an office where he used to pick up some money a few times,also he saying he was a lousy drummer and the only reason he begged Brian to create the band was to pick up more girls. Dennis was a real handsome man and a beach bum and tired of his family,had nothing to loose and he did it. Got him and his brother away from his father,took care of Brian when he got mental and made all them rich.These were his words when i asked. If was not for him they all would be selling cars Brian would be in a Hospital or living on the street,and in the end when he was in need they all turn the back on him.Nobody from the band,his own brother,cousins gave him a hand to help him out. At least pay the debt on his boat. RIP my friend the Dennis that i had the pleasure to meet was a kind,giving good heart man

sorry...but Dennis doesn't sing, he growls...and if he wasn't a Wilson, he'd have been a beach bum (which may have been better for him)...

Let’s get real here. Dennis was a handsome guy who got a lot of mileage from his looks, but he was only marginally talented, had a shitty work-ethic and never sold an album or a concert ticket under his own name. Whenever we referred to Dennis back in the day, it was usually as something of a bad joke.... Most people are the authors of their own problems, and that was certainly true of Dennis Wilson.

Dennis was kind of a screw up who rode Brians wave of success till he just couldn't. If he wasn't a Wilson brother I do not feel the 'friends' here wouldn't have anything to do with him. Sorry but I have little sympathy for someone like him. He was a jerk unwilling to change. Then he hooks up with a teenager, no oh no. And they call Mike Love a jerk. Both are jerks. He can't even talk anymore. How many lives has he made worse...

....Billy Preston wrote You Are So Beautiful....to think a caveman drummer like Dennis wrote that tune is living in a serious world of illusion....just ask his brother Brian....

Loretta Lee No....Mike Love punched him in the throat and hurt his vocal cords! That was the beginning of the end of Denny’s voice.
