Never has there been such a tight band that could play so loose!

Two of the musical highlights of my life took place at an NRBQ show at NYC's The Bottom Line in 1989. My friend and I were in the front by the stage, singing along, and Terry put the mike in front of me so I could sing a verse of "Here Comes Terry." Later, he also let me count down "The 12-Bar Blues."

@@davidsigalow7349 Lucky dude. I only saw them 2-3 times in the late 80's early 90's - kicked ass, of course - but I hold the flame still. One of those times was at a giant block party on the south side of Chicago, also featuring the only Jimi Hendrix 'tribute' 3-piece that you would swear is the real guy. Yeah, right down to being left handed, fringe vest, scarf/headband, played with his teeth, etc. Good times with the Q!

One of the most underrated bands ever. So fun live. True rock and rollers. Remind me of the Replacements - except NRBQ survived.

OMG!! Am ashamed. Watching a Keith Richards interview and he mentions NRBQ. Ashamed because I forgot about this band. Saw them live with original members in 1979/1980. I was blown away with them and followed for years after, but then unfortunately life took me away with extremely long illness. As soon as I heard Keith say NRBQ I went straight to them. So good to hear and so underappreciated. They should have been huge.
@ericemig17556 жыл бұрын
LuLu Luna : Yep. Tragically under appreciated. As a trick of my age I was never able to see the band when Al was in it. But I've seen them several times since. The current incarnation of the band is brilliant. If you get a chance you should check them out. There's only one Al, but Scott Ligon is a true master and the whole show remains beautiful.

They got stuck in bars. They were way better than bars. Way. They were 1 of the 5 top American bands of all time. A. Buddy Holly and the Crickets. 2. Little Feat. III. NRBQ D. The Dead 5. The Replacements In no particular order.

One of the worst kept secrets in Rock N Roll. NRBQ never got the recognition they deserved although they were revered by some of the greatest R&R musicians around including Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, etc. These guys rocked and were extremely tight musicians that were unmatched live or on record. No one to my mind has ever come close to the range they covered and the talent they displayed over and over again. Every album is a gem including Kick Me Hard, Tiddly Winks, NRBQ Live at Yankee Stadium, and more.
