I saw this video a few years ago and in Oct. 2016 I went to Liguria, stayed in Santa Margherita Ligure and visited Portofino and The Cinque Terre. Walked over the mountains from Vernazza to Monterosso . Good tip going that way instead of the reverse! Santa Margherita was a little gem, the perfect base. Thanks Dennis for your informative videos, happy travels!

I'm glad it was helpful. This is an expanded, combined version, part of my series on Cinque Terre area.

Oh the food and wine in this area ❤️. I was able to stay at the Splendido and the view from there was magnificent. I often say I would go back here and the Cinque Terre, where we stayed in Vernazza, just to eat and drink wine. Enjoy your videos very much.

Very fortunate you could enjoy the Splendido, making the town all yours in the off-hours.

Santa margherita looks amazing. If I am someone who loves to take the time to discover slowly every corner and history, how many days can I spend just in Santa Margherita? Thanks for the beautiful video and explanations.
@denniscallan6 жыл бұрын
It is a good home base for seeing the nearby attractions, as well as a destination on its own, so you could easily stay 5 or more days in Santa Margherita, while making daytrips out, then coming back for the afternoon/evening. But in itself, the town is small and only takes a day.

Why would you do a travel video in the off season as well as on a windy night?
@denniscallan4 жыл бұрын
Because that is when I was there. It was in November, let's call it late shoulder season, and I had no control over the wind. That is a nice time to be there, but October is even better when the boat rides are still happening.

This driver is endangering his life and the ones of others, in the narrow curves of the wet road.

Hans, maybe you've never been on that road, but that is how they drive.

@@denniscallan It anyway still appears as comparatively harmless. I've been driven around Naxos as a child, by a local, in a way I've never forgotten. But I guess I'll have been on the Portofino road in a bygone incarnation as Gerhart Hauptmann.
