AWESOME video! We have to do that track at some stage. Thank you heaps! I was going to try and arrange for us viewers to all chip in and sort you with a mic, the first part was a hard to listen to, but then it improved so I assume you have the gear. Thank you for another awesome educational video. I look forward to meeting you on the track some day!

Thank you for your comments, and it will be great when I start meeting some of my viewers that I don't know on the tracks. I have a better mic coming for my voice overs, and I should be able to use it when I remote the GoPro. I have been keen photographer for a long time, but I'm new to the video side of things.

That tree just past the mackley crossing was down when we went through early feb this year. Just managed to squeeze the sxs and quads past the root ball.

It must have fallen within the last year as some of the boys did this track the same weekend a year ago and it was still standing

Where abouts in the west coast is it, can it be done in winter

Yes, it's a all weather track turning off highway 6 at Iron Bridge and ends about Denniston near Westport

The advice I've heard is if its raining be very careful as the catchment for Mackley is giant.

Good advice, I have seen photos of bonnet height water may by last year. It had been very dry before we did this and just started raining that day,

Is there still a locked gate on this track?
@realneilsadventures4 ай бұрын
I haven't heard of a locked gate on this track, and I have done it twice, how long ago did it have a locked gate?
@robmcintyre45574 ай бұрын
@@realneilsadventures - Yep, was a gate about 10-15kms in from the Iron Bridge side. Last time I went through a code was needed - must admit that was about 15 years ago! I was wondering if some of those old tracks we used to do are still drivable.
@realneilsadventures4 ай бұрын
Thats interesting, must have changed now as of the last 3 years there has been no locked gate. I have a SC4WD club meeting tonight so I will ask if anyone knows about when it was locked.
@keyboardwarrior91994 ай бұрын
@@robmcintyre4557 yea I have a 4WD NZ book and it states there's a locked gate on the western side of the Mackley with a phone number to call for access. The book is at least 8 years old now tho.
@realneilsadventures4 ай бұрын
I have been told that they properly had to unlock it as it is a public road.

Thanks for the video! My engine light came on shortly after crossing the mackley River, the water was halfway up the doors depth.😂 Did a quick engine check over and the vitals were ok. Had it checked in West port and turned out that my thermostat was stuck open. So then engine was running cooler than it should. Nothing major 👌
