There will always be people who say Mark Martin was the greatest to never win it, but yea no. Hamlin clears him in every stat possible. I love Hamlin for his personality. Hell, every driver I love are the ones who have personalities. Busch, Hamlin, Logano, 🅱️rad, Chastain, Harvick, Blaney, etc Hamlin has 1, maybe 2 more good-elite years left. He has atleast near or over the talent level of Kenseth, Busch bros, Harvick, Bill Elliott, Earnhardt Sr, and they all had good-great final years (Kyle Busch hasn’t lost his racecraft, he’s just haven’t had many opportunities to show it. Plus he’s making mistakes he made in his pre championship years)

He'd win 2021 under the system used in 1972 that valued laps completed. He'd win 2022 under the 2011 Chase format, after qualifying as a wildcard. And he'd have won as a rookie in 2006 if we used the 2014 Playoff system back then (not under the current rules though). I also suspect, but can't prove without purse numbers that NASCAR no longer publicizes, that he'd win 2016, 2019 and 2020 under the 1974 system, which gave a huge bonus for winning the 500.
