When Denny came into Nascar, being black flagged for aggressive driving was the law of the land. They didn't get parked, unless it was too extreme, just a black flag to make their day more complicated. I'm pretty sure, At one time, they were even not allowed to get the free pass if that black flag happened. It was a ball and strike call that people didn't like, but it worked. Boy have at it has failed

Denny makes clear by inference at around 3:45 that Logano's punt of the #24 at Darlington is not the same as the #3 dive-bomb of the #22 or #11at Richmond this year. "...Deservedly going to win the race..." Logano was going to win at Richmond last week; Byron was not going to win at Darlington, his tires were used up. This is how precedents are worked out to help establish a "line" or more like a "zone" to help guide enforcement of the rules.
