Hey, I just got myself a Traditions KY Long Rifle Flintlock kit, and I can't wait to build that rifle and go hunting with it this year! I've been really into traditional firearms lately.

Nice Video , thanks for posting . I learned something just from watching your skilled use of the Hand tools . It’s helpful to watch guys with your experience and Skills . It gives us layman the confidence to do it ourselves and it is good to know I can always come back and see how you did certain things . Thanks very much for posting 👍

You can't go wrong with one of these kits, they are really guns in the white and only need finishing touches to complete, but it is nice to add personal touches like patch box different ramrod pipes and nose cap just to make it your own special rifle, nice to see you using a good bench support in you well equipped workshop. Enjoy finishing it. Chris B.

It's amazing how nicely set up these kits are. I replaced the lock on my CVA Mountain Rifle with an L & R lock, and you took less wood out of that Kibler putting that lock in then I had to remove off that CVA to install my L & R lock.

Gene is one of the top builders in the country. We worked together at Serengeti Rifles, then he went on as the builder for Kilimanjaro Rifles. His BPCR and dangerous game rifles are works of art. I found it amusing Gene is back at the huffing and puffing to blow away chips, as he had got pretty happy using an air hose instead!

@@waksupi Gene is the guy building it? Will you direct me to more of his work. I would love to watch more videos of him. I’m new to flintlocks. Just finished a Jim chambers kit this last Winter. Even tagged a doe last week.

I've built a Colonial and a Woodsrunner. They are simply SUPERB kits. I just cant' deal with the length and crescent buttplate of the southern rifle or I'd build one too! The fowler...hmm...pondering on that and I feel that resistance will be futile.

Ok, may finally have the funds together and looking at the Southern Mountain Rifle, I've never built a kit, but no stranger to woodwork and filing. Have the tools but how hard was it to assemble this and how good are the instructions. My biggest concern from what I can see is drilling out the spots for the pins and I don't have a drill press, just a drill.
@FolkFirearmsCollective5 ай бұрын
We didn’t use a drill press for the pins. The instructions are superb and Kibler also has instruction videos on every step. I tried to show much of the way we did it here as well. Go slow, be patient and you’ll be fine friend. It was not hard. Use a candle or “eye shadow” or inletting black. The ram rod pipes were what took probably the most work fitting. Just mark them each 1-2-3 and keep them oriented the same way every time as you go. We filed one notch, two notches or three notches depending what pipe it was. The spine of them had to be filed down some which is normal. Use a piece of dowel the thickness of the ram rod or the rod itself to check the alignments of them as you fit them. Watch the video hear again showing how we drilled and you’ll see the jig Kibler sends is remarkable. Let me know how it goes.

Нет. Стволы изготавливаются современными методами, а затем подготавливаются и обрабатываются в соответствии с этими спецификациями. Спасибо за вопрос.

You should have asked him how he lost the tips of his two fingers there... Fort Polk!!
@waksupi5 ай бұрын
Believe it or not, his mule shot him. He had been out hunting, leaned his buffalo rifle against a tree. Mule knocked it over, half cock notch broke, and there went the fingers! Gene is also a musician and singer, and it kind of cramped his guitar playing style for awhile.
