Robbie did the unthinkable.. Truly a great band with the most unique blend of talent.. Only Robbie and Garth remain.. They left us too soon .. Ricks vocal makes you feel the hurt deep inside..

Great performance- Rick's vocal is very raw and emotional, and the harmonies from this version of the group are so think, with all 4 members of the Cate Brothers band singing behind levon, richard and rick. And Earl and Garth's solos are beautiful! thanks for posting.

This is definitely my favorite "live" version of the song. Danko just nails it. Just as you say so "raw and emotional". I also love the way he bounces through the middle part. To see this nowadays, just reminds me how great the Band was, with and without Robbie. What a performance!!

❤When anyone else but Danko does this song it leaves me limp in my heart, this was made to be sung by him...anyone else should know that and keep their inadequate vocal cords away...Just sayin the TRUTH !!! Even though this is not his best outing of the song, it's still great..

Beautiful always. But The Last Waltz version is my absolute favourite.

This version can't touch the Last Waltz version IMO...Rick,Levon,Robbie,Richard and Garth just killed it that night.

If there's an afterlife - one of the first things I'm gonna do is make out with Rick Danko.

What a shame that that greed destroyed The Band, Robbie Robertson taking half the royalist, admitting that he did end up writing the songs but he did have input from the rest of the group, Albert Grossman behind the end of one of The great bands, Levon Helm never forgave his former band mate, R,I,P The Band

The truth is much more complicated than that. The other Band members agreed to sell their publishing rights.

Music 's a business. Always has been, always will be. Ten Years After, Jeff Healey Band, and so many more fought over the money.
