I bought one of these, and am happy with it. I hooked up an Aiyima A3 Tube pre-amp into my amp, and that warmed up the sound a whole lot. I’m using some French mil-spec 5654 tubes made by Amperex. Anyway, I agree with you fully about the tone controls needing to be on the massive remote. Good review.

Very impressed that you take time to reply. I know it isn’t always possible but when you can it’s nice. I’m going for a demo of this paired with matching CD and Dali specktor 2 speakers as a bundle from a UK hi fi store. The price is very appealing. I’m also leaning towards a Denon Ceol system which I know is a different product but it will depend on sound and advice from the store. I can tell you it’s a nightmare researching.

Came across this review after getting mine a month ago. I’m not particularly experienced with HiFi but I gotta say I’m loving this with my new Q Acoustic 3050i floor standers. Feels nice and BIG with 80s hair rock and metal and great with house music too. Lovely deep clean bass with clear mid and highs. I really enjoy listening to music at low volumes too, with this. Totally agree with the remote observations. Baffling why one wouldn’t add bass and treble control on it. Not sure I agree with the perception of premium build quality. Personally I think it would look great in complete silver but, as far as black goes, I feel it looks quite heavy duty, albeit somewhat bulky industrial. Really enjoying it and will be hooking it up to a Denon turntable in a bit.

Great review. I love your focus on information compared to many of your more opinion heavy colleagues. Much more helpful like you do it. Thank you. Looking for an integrated amp myself but my current speakers are the B&W 602 S3's and I expect it to be a bad match too. I guess they will become really condensed in the mids and lows as they are already pretty flat and warm.
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! Perhaps the IotaVS SA3 will be more of what you're looking for? It's the total opposite of this amp, more open and airy up top, more controlled bass, and a midrange that is well defined at this price range. If you want something even cooler sounding that the IotaVX the Emotiva TA100 is similar to the IotaVX but a little less air up top and it's midrange is a touch on the cooler side.

It's interesting that you described the sound as 'muscular', that's exactly what I thought upon getting this the other day. What a fuller, more muscular sound this has, I thought. Of course, the previous amp was a chi-fi class D unit, but still. It does have a nice warm sound and I think pairs up with my elacs nicely. I have actually turned the bass down a smidge when listening to a couple of recordings, otherwise keep it flat. Would be nice if the volume knob had a little led on it. It's $500 in 2022, not $400, btw.

I trade in my Marantz PM5005 for Denon PMA 600NE. I have been using Marantz for 4 years. The main reason i change to Denon because i want the Bluetooth function. Both are great amp. Marantz 5005 more musical and soft but Denon have more power in bass. About the bluetooth, when i hook up to Mac Mini and play youtube and Spotify, it have a glitch sound sometime. Just my 2 cents.

Hello Nemo. I want to share a couple of things with you. 1- thanks for the Heco Aurora recommendation. I got the 200 and i like it with my Audiolab 6000a. 2- I thought over several months that my Q Acoustics Concept 300 where woofer blowed up. Treated my room and they got fixed magically 😅 3- (and this pointis because the Denon) I have the new Denon AVR 3800 and the Audiolab. Tried everything with the q Acoustics and Audiolab and i simply don't like the sound. The other day i connected them to the Denon... Its the first time I knew what was all about with the rave reviews with the Q Acoustics. 😅 I am crazy? I liked so much than i listened to music for hours that day. (Setting the AVR to "pure") my wife upstairs yelled at me that the sound was great. So im thinking about buying some Denon (a little up the tier)what do you think? I really love your reviews and style. Its important to me to trust your reviews as i live in Mexico city and the shipping costs and taxes can get very expensive. So thank you for the auroras review 😊

Late comment: I have just bought a 12 month old example and thought it was the old model, as in the new photos the fascia did indeed look curved- I even checked out other images. I'm glad mine is flat! I'm coming from the very,very bottom, I was streaming using my p.c speakers at Christmas, but invested in a nineties amp and cd player, plus some Mordaunt M20- all for under £200. I was blown away by the sound (don't laugh now). I then paid £100 for a Chord Mojo, and that was a huge difference. I've bought some Triangle BR03 that were demo, but with a dinked bottom corner, so my new system has set me back less than £500. Can't wait to plug it all in, and now I need to know if my Amazon Basics speaker cables are up to the job- will I appreciate bettter cables with this set up do you think? How much to spend? So far I've bought good quality coax, optical and RCA leads knowing I would upgrade, but speaker cables were costing more than my system!
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 3 ай бұрын
the pma600 ne is not hyper detailed so I think spending money on cables could be a waste, all you really need is good quality cables and that can be very inexpensive like the Maze Eden speaker cables sold on ebay for $89 but I also think the amazon basics one is good enough.

Congrats for your great reviews: so accurate! I'm purchaising this Denon (the alternatives could be the Cambridge AXA35 or AXR100...) and I would appreciate your suggestion about the best speakers to paired it with among Elac dbr62, B&W 607 S2 and Monitor Audio Bronze 100. Many thanks 😊
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 10 ай бұрын
mmm, it's pretty hard to advise since I'm not sure what kind of sound you're going for but If I were you I'd go for an Emotiva TA1 paired with Heco Aurora 300 speakers, those are my two favorite budget options right now and they have good synergy together. A lot of people like this Denon amp but it was not for me personally, I also feel the B&W 607 S2 is too bright, the MA Bronze lacks refinement in the treble, and the DBR62 is overpriced in todays market. Essentially I dislike all of your options. I don't mean to be harsh, I figured you'd prefer my candid & honest feedback.
@leomansueto5878
@leomansueto5878 10 ай бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda thank a lot for your "candid & honest" feedback. Denon and Cambridge amps (together with Rotel) are the options offered by my local store at good prices, that's also why I was considering them. Emotiva (BasX TA1?) + Heco Aurora 300 sounds as a nice combination: I'll try to find a store and give them a chance. I don't listen to jazz and classical but mainly pop and rock, some acoustic/folky stuff and a bit of electronic/funk/reggae/dub records. I use mainly CDS, a bit of streaming and vinyls played with a pro-ject T1

Did you see my review comparing this amp to the iotaVX and Emotiva? I think most people will be more happy with one of those unless you really like the warm sound only. All the pairings you mention are good pairings for the Denon but my problem with the Denon is it's just not as open sounding as the Emotiva and IotaVX and for me that's a big deal. Personally i would rather get the IotaVX and pair it with whatever speaker fit my budget :)

@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, i would advise against that pairing. The Elac have a nice open sound to them and the Denon will close that up a bit. I would go with something a little more robust and upgradeable like the IotaVX SA-3. The elacs like power and while the iotaVX doesn't have a whole lot more power than the Denon it is upgradeable since it has pre-outs and it's power output feels stronger and more linear when you dig into that volume knob it won't let you down where as the denon starts to lose its composure a bit.

Did not work with my new Soundcore life q20 Bluetooth headphones. I have now ordered a Bluetooth transmitter to see if that will work. Contacted Denon who would not guarantee that it would work. All this asides the amp is excellent. Don’t assume like me if you have a Bluetooth amp and Bluetooth headphones that they will pair together. Here’s hoping.
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 3 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised they didn't realize that 100% will not work, the bluetooth in the Denon is for receiving bluetooth signals and not for transmitting. Most amps only receive and don't send. If your amp is near a TV connect it to the TV and use the bluetooth from TV to headphones, that'll work as bluetooth on a TV can send and receive where as amps usually only receive.

I've actually never heard the LS50 but my understanding is they are fairly bright, I'm not sure this will tone them down enough to be considered a warm sound but it may warm them up enough for you to enjoy the sound, this is one of those situations where i think you should try it and see what happens :). What about the quality/specs of the Bluetooth? I see that it doesn't have the AptX at all, so also not the AptX HD or LowLatency then. So if I would stream from Spotify, would it be any good?? It sounds like your current BT adapter is superior to the internal one in the Denon so if you buy the Denon i would continue to use your external BT adapter. I am new to this world - and the stated power here (45 watt/ch) is less than half of both these entry level AVRs at 90/95 watt/ch at the same specs (8 ohm, 20-20, low THD). On paper, it looks like I might decrease the power to my fronts as compared to surrounds. Is it really the case? The Denon might have enough power, try it first and see how you like it, the type of speakers you have, the size of your room, and the volume you like your movies at will all play a big factor. You can do something cheaper like the Emotiva A300 or you can step up to their XPA-2 if you need the power.
