I've found the best way i use the touch pads is to have my thumb flush against them and to roll left and right to click and hit down more with the bottom of the joint

I play this map quite a bit, but today I discovered that it's not an original, but rather a port from a 2D zombie survival game called Deadpoly. I'm not sure what Marcel did here other than make it H3VR compatible by building colliders and such, because after watching quite a bit of game play from Deadpoly, I see no difference in the actual map design. It might be made with freely available assets because another zombie survival game (also 2D) called SurrounDead, uses many of the same 3D objects including buildings, vehicles, boxes/crates, tents, etc.

You should try Skyrim VR with all of the immersion mods installed like HIGGS and MageVR. I don't get immersed in VR games but that experience was pretty close.

It honestly took me an entire re-format to get that performance. Not sure what was bogging my system down, but the creator said even some low end systems were running it fine, while mine was struggling on the second hold.

I have the same CPU you are running with a 2070 gpu. This map and some of the other feel like I'm running in slowmo most of the time. Do you have your graphics setting turned down a lot or how do you manage to not have lag whenever you move? Seems like all these mods running in the console beats the hell out of the CPU and makes it almost impossible to have more than 5 mods at a time running.

Use one of the three lowest graphics settings, the game doesn't look much better with higher graphics anyways. In my experience, higher graphics will lower my frame rate a lot, especially when shooting full auto I got an rtx 2060 and an i7-9700 cup and I use airplay with an quest 2

My choice for what I would shoot if I could, would probably be either a WPA 2000, or a Lahti 20mm. I'd love to try out an AA-12 in full auto

If I am taking long range shots, I use the steady aim feature which is holding your off-hand trigger in to steady the rifle

my transition from the Vive (hitachi magic) Wands to the quest 2's touch controllers was actually way smoother than i'd figured, goes to show how well thought out the quest was as a platform.

I hadn't really thought of the transition in that way. The quest ones still being "held" objects just with the dedicate grab trigger may have helped there. I just wish the tracking rings weren't so intrusive

@@jeditobiwan yeah they really get in the way of racking the pocket pistols. I got around the 'held object' issue with some nice knuckle straps from Kiwi, it makes general use so much nicer.

@@jeditobiwan Do you not find the index controllers to be intrusive? I find that I smack the bottom of the gun controller with the top of the mag controller before the actual reload registers with every pistol in H3.

@@Simlife101 Oculus Rift S (3-4 years old), I was getting maybe 30 fps on some of the selected characters but not others, I had to close almost every program I had open except the game and my software, which left me at maybe 50 fps, and tbh I don't know much about my specs besides the 1080 TI card from Nvidia.

adding too many big gun mods can slow things down in my experience

Gun mods can cause issues, especially if it is the modul ones or anything that has an attachment. Very expensive and it grows exponentially as you add more attachments.

I used to play it a lot! I think it needs some difficulty adjustment now though - limited ammo spawns less enemies and the high cap magazines of most characters make it rather trivial at this point. Calico can still be a challenge though

As someone who has been playing H3VR with Quest & Quest 2 for over a year and a half, as long as your PC is good, and you have a long enough cable for Link, or a stable enough Connection for Virtual Desktop, as well as enough space, it works wonders. Same goes for most VR Games

​@@pankotoo quest 2 with Virtual Desktop is awesome for H3, but it too has the downside of low resolution. Virtual Desktop allows me to connect to my pc and play steamvr games from anywhere and as long as the wi-fi you're connected to is 5g it works fine. Even without VD you can still play through wi-fi LAN with air link, which is oculus' own implementation. im running with a 1050ti, ryzen 5 3600x and 16gb RAM, and my VD stream is set up for low quality and 72 fps(my system is a bit underpowered for vr but there's no way im upgrading with the current GPU prices).

@@guicky_ Dont worry, a better GPU doesnt really help much with quality. I have an RTX Titan and it doesnt really do much, the quest can only do so much visual quality. also to the other guy, a quest 2 is great for h3, so long as you have a gaming pc to do airlink or wired play. outdoors areas in any game struggles and will looks pretty blurry and pixelated, but the default Take and hold map works brilliantly on it and quality is perfect.

It is using Atlas which allows for culling, but it does struggle with any character that have a lot of sosigs alive at once. I had one heck of a time getting it to run even this well, but when it does work, it works!

Its more optimized then Rostok from my playtesting, and Rostok's a 3rd of its size. Still, the one thing that hits performance the most is something we don't have the tools to help manage, and thats when a ton of sosigs are on the map. This is an issue for all maps tho, not just Aporkalypse Now.

@@TDakaNuigoFtrmarket rostok is also running on the older custom map framework, so there is no culling. It's much more of a GPU hog since there is a lot of overdraw happening. Tough to get performance out of sizeable and detailed maps on the game.

Have you made sure all of your mods are up to date? Sometimes deleting all of them and redownloading them from scratch can fix this too.

I played this map for about 2 hours today, and it's awesome as far as the whole "urban tactical shooter" vibe goes, as you can see from watching, however, Marcel really needs to curb his love for polygons and excessive detail and realize that performance is #1 with VR. He clearly pushes detail first and performance second, and within the first 45 minutes, the performance began to degrade and by the end of the first hour, it was unplayable, the frame rate was such garbage. I quit the game and restarted, which allowed me to play another hour, but again, performance tanked to the point of being unplayable and then I just quit altogether. The map has just WAAAAY too many details that are completely unnecessary, they add nothing to the gameplay, and contribute more to visual overload rather than the immersion. He could easily get rid of a lot of the silly nonsense and cut 25~35% of the polygons without hurting the overall aesthetics of the map. It is most definitely NOT optimized well enough.

AFAIK Marcel didn't model it, it's a pre-made asset, he just did colliders and the rest of the setup to make it play in TNH. Would be a *lot* more work to go around cutting up parts of the map to try to meet performance quotas.
