So, you will get a letter from CF if you use CrossFit in certain ways in media, so I had to use ‘functional fitness’ in some docs I made for a gym a few years ago. It may have been her sponsor’s legal.

That was my first thought on the AB video. Was like, "she's a CF athlete". 😂 But maybe they can't use CF in the title? Maybe they're trying to appeal to a larger audience? Who knows? I have better things to worry about.

The Open can not come fast enough. We will know then who is still a CrossFit athlete and who is not. 😂 But if you type that in KZbin, lots of video titles that include “CrossFit athlete” that aren’t just from CF Games page or a major sponsor. Many of Mitchell Hooper videos on CrossFit stuff for example.

The RAD documentary changed my view of her. She was abandoned by her father, and at a certain point by her mother, too. The feeling of worthlessness that leaves a child with is nearly impossible to overcome. Most end up strung out on drugs and self destructive.

@@sebastiannai4381 The documentary does not share the whole truth about her time at Underdogs. It is heavily biased. As someone from a similar background of abuse/neglect in childhood and someone who suffers from an inability to emotionally self-regulate, I love Danielle and rooted for her, but she does things I just don't care to see and I rather not follow her. I really do hope to see her reach her full potential more as a person than as a CrossFit athlete.

That’s kind of garbage/clickbait speculation regarding Amanda, who is a good person. That video is really an advertisement for the company that provider her with her home gym equipment. The company’s target market likely includes CrossFitters, Strongmen, people who do Hyrox (lame), etc.. As such, they probably provided her with some direction on what to say in the video so it appeals to the widest possible audience - hence, “fitness athlete”.

Are you acknowledging the title to your video is intentional click bait and that is okay because other people do it? Objectively, your response to my post is just a bit unclear to me. What I am arguing is that you made a clickbait/garbage video title by making an insane/imply a wild assumption about Amanda and her career based off your interpretation of her word choice in an advertisement - using the term functional fitness instead of CrossFit. It’s just dumb unethical fake news nonsense. And, you are doing it at the expense of a good person/true CrossFitter person. Listen, at the end of the day, it was just a lazy thing to do to get click/interactions and you went after a person who I like and feel like defending. And it’s also not true, I can easily find 20 examples of KZbin titles where they don’t contain clickbait. Also, what exactly is the joke here? Can you explain it? This seems like a weird way to back pedal. And if you are joking it seems like you’re doing so at Amanda expense. Do you even know her? Do you see the irony in all this? Asking someone to take a breath or a break because you think they’re overreacting? Don’t you think the same could be said for you? The problem is while you think this may be a joke - it creates a mob mentality. The sentiment these videos create about people does have an effect on others. It leads to people commenting on athletes posts things like “Fitness athlete” as a way to mock them for not using what you think is the right verbiage. Yes, Adler only won because Roman broke his foot. Just like Laura only won because Tia wasn't there! You cant say CrossFit, look how many athletes push Whoop. Yet when I do a WOD my whoop says "functional fitness"

I got some takeaways: (1) Irony of Katrin's retirement BEFORE her idol (and reason why she got into competitive CrossFit); nothing in the segments with Annie in this documentary comes remotely close to any hints of her retirement. 2023 CF Games is the last time we will see these two OGs share the Games floor. (2) Roman wasn't the only individual to have an injury at the Games, yet his story was so compelling that it got more coverage. How about Ellie Turner? She withdrew after the Ski-Bag event, yet no mention is made of her. Moreover, she seems to be a casualty of the toll that competitive CrossFit takes on young ladies (she's still pretty young, though not as much so as Mal, Emma C, Emma L, etc). (3) Four poignant moments: Arielle fist-bumping Laura; in the athlete stalls; Chandler bickering with his coach Matt Bickel after the snatch and clean and jerk event (playful or not), and Bickel''s very awkward and feeble attempts to defend himself - all caught on camera; (3) The group photo of Laura, Gabi, and Kristhof in the athlete area on the steps after Laura's win - last time we'll ever see that 'happy' bunch; (4) Matt Torres' silence as Danielle lets loose in the ice barrel = AWKWARD.
