This is Natasha, my assistant. You might have seen her in other videos. We are now in our sterilization room and this is where instrument cleanup happens. And I'd like to just give you an idea of what we do with the instruments that we use on you in the treatment room, and what is the process for making sure that instruments that are dirty to start,come out perfectly clean in the end. It's a sterilization process so Natasha's going to demonstrate what we do.

really good video, but I do have a couple of comments: dental assistant should be wearing utility gloves, should avoid hand scrubbing if ultrasonic is being used(prevents accidental punctures), should turn off ultrasonic before lifting lid and should put pouches paper side down on autoclave. hope this comment is helpful

The fact that she opened the ultrasonic while it was still running was a miss for sure. Not so much for her personal health, because she is wearing a mask, but if there are sterile trays in the room, (which we know there are) particles from the dirty instruments can easily contaminate those. Even sterile instruments in bags that come in contact with contaminated particles can be a huge risk, because they come in contact with a (hopefully) clean and sterilized operatory room. Lots of holes in procedure here, but that one I felt was most notable.

Thanks for the video! It is much safer for the employee to load contaminated instruments into a basket in the sink, then gently lower it into the ultrasonic; never reaching into the ultrasonic, out of sight.

She has made so many mistakes in this video. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. She is folding all the sterilization bags wrong especially the hand piece, she is not creating an air tight seal. She should never open the ultrasonic while it's still running or remove anything while it's running. Also she didn't allow the ultrasonic to run the full cycle. She didn't change her gloves when bagging up instruments from the ultrasonic to the autoclave. She really should be wearing utility gloves to prevent injury. I'm glad I'm not a patient in that office.

lots of holes in this video. She is not properly attired, she didn't change her gloves between dirty work and clean work, didn't shut off sonic before removing and she should be soaking and cleaning the instruments in an enzymatic cleaner and properly cleaned under water. Each sterilizer requires a biological test, not a strip test for testing the effectiveness of the sterilizer. Many mistakes and I give this video a D for don't go by this video if you want to do this right. Patients will get sick.

So many mistakes, she didn't even dry the instruments, american people can never do things properly and overloading the autoclave. As a 2nd year dental student I can do a way better job. Sickening mate
