they need to invent a better system for taking intraoral x-rays. this is impossible for people with severe gag reflex.

Thank you for all the tips. Awesome video at my previous job. I worked at I would get in so much trouble if any part of the tooth crown surface was cut off or if it was even slightly not exact how they wanted it. I felt very stressed all the time because I was constantly having to retake my x-rays, it wasn’t actually the Doctor Who gave me a hard time rather the office manager something to do with the insurance companies. This became one of the most stressful part of my job as a dental assistant, because I always felt nervous taking the x-rays.

It’s super interesting you’re using a round headed collimator! These have been fully phased out in Europe as they deliver an increased dose and broader field of rays that never actually reach the sensor so are useless and increase patient risk. Is it common practice for these to be used still in America?
@dominiquecox29163 жыл бұрын
I’ve worked in dental the past 4 years and have never seen a square collimator in any office I’ve worked at!
@JordyJRT3 жыл бұрын
@@dominiquecox2916 That’s so interesting! Here the collimator is the exact same size and shape as a size 2 film, can make getting the film completely perfect a bit difficult as it has to be completely lined up but I believe it produces about 40% less radiation than a round collimator for the same result! I would’ve thought these were common practice worldwide now!
@jenshaw80852 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s common practice in the USA. Unfortunately, America is shit about safety compared to the rest of the World.

This video is amazing! Although I saw that your patient was holding the film holder for you, which I was told that was not good- what are your thoughts?
@TeethTalk Жыл бұрын
I always learned in school that the clinician should never hold it for the patient -- but it's okay for the patient to hold it themself if it's needed to capture a diagnostic image. I'm definitely about to look into this further -- to see if there's any research about it. Thank you!!

Im new and struggle with getting the lower anterior xray. I’ve noticed you have the patient holding the rin in place. I wanna try this. Should I tell the patient to apply pressure and hold it in place after I position the sensor? Thanks so much in advance !
@sashalee6162 Жыл бұрын
because of the pandemic infection control department in our hospital prohibits us to use rinn xray holders unless every patient would be provided with a set. so we went on taking xrays with just the sensor and the patient just holding the sensor. I mean it was tough..

safe distance is behind a wall and if there is no wall - then 6 feet. so you are fine with the floor/ceiling barrier :)
