I am so sorry your having this bad experience 😢 I feel your dentist let you down tremendously! I just had my extractions and immediate dentures and I can tell you, so far, my experience has been totally the opposite of yours and that makes me feel so sad for you! I used our university here in Utah to do my procedure and while they are students doing all of the work, under the supervision of licensed Dentists, I feel they have done a phenomenal job. Eating is the biggest thing that is not happening but all in all it’s been a positive process! I really think you need to get firm with your dentist and let them know how you feel! You seem like a very sweet and amazing person and I bet you don’t like to rattle cages but this is your smile, health and emotions! I think I would definitely be looking for a more proactive dentist! I wish all the luck in the world 🙏🏻 and hope this nightmare ends soon!

You should not have to see an oral surgeon to have the bone filed down, I just had this done in the same office

Rachel, I'm sorry that you've been struggling. To be honest, you look absolutely beautiful. I don't know what you've been eating but, you look like you went backwards in age!! 2 weeks ago, I had to go to the dentist and have two ridges of bone filed down. They were on each side of my upper gums. I didn't know what to expect. It was less of an ordeal than having one tooth pulled. I didn't use any gas and I didn't have anything in me to be calm. I just closed my eyes and about 20 minutes later I was leaving the office with stitches on top. I only had to leave the gauze on for about 30 minutes and everything stopped bleeding. I never gave it another thought from that point forward. It feels better that there's no ridge there on either side. My dentist isn't an oral surgeon. He told me it wasn't going to be anything. I believed him because, he's never lied to me. So, all I needed were three shots on each side. Then, I was completely numb and I felt nothing. I don't have anybody, you know that. So, sometimes, I get scared. For instance, I'm going on Monday to have my impressions made. I'm afraid I'm going to choke because, I gag easily. I have no idea how long it's going to take or what the man who's in charge of measuring and making the impressions is going to do. Then, when my immediates are there, I will go and have the front ones pulled and those put in. You have taught me a lot. We were right there with you from day one and so, I kind of know what not to get upset about. Maybe it's better that mine got pulled in little segments at a time. The gums have all receded and I know they will receive more but, I will only have a little section of stitches in the front when my immediates are placed. I'm so glad to see you and hear from you again. I have a question. Did you go with B1 or B2 for the color? Or are yours a bleached color? I know that B1 is the whitest that is considered a natural tooth color. You know, my ridges all together were probably about 2 1/2 inches long. It didn't stop me from eating. The only thing that I did notice was that my body was very tired for the first 3 or 4 days. I wanted to sleep a lot and I think it's because, my body knew that it had some healing to do. God bless you, sweetie. Don't worry about calling it surgery. It takes less than 2 seconds to open the side of the gum, then they flatten it and put the stitches in. The stitches are dissolvable and they took about 10 days to dissolve completely. The only thing I would have done differently was not come home and have something warm to eat. That tends to make the dissolvable stitches want to dissolve quicker. It made one or two a little loose. I would have just made sure I cooled my food down to more of room temperature. I look forward to hearing from you and watching you complete this journey. You have been so brave. God is surely with you. I can see him in your eyes. 🩷🌷

Thank you so much for the encouragement and knowing what to expect going into having the bone shaved down. I chose A1 for my immediate dentures, but for my peraments, I would probably go with B1. It's great to be back and be posting again. I missed all you guys. Have a great day!!!

thanks for posting the most important thing to mention is you must have a dentist that will listen and do what you need them to do I need dentures but trying to hold off as long as I can I have a friends that have beautiful dentures that fit great no adhesive they went to same dentist but one them went to two different ones prior and was unhappy and rightfully so from what they have told me getting a dentist that listens and will do what you need to make them the way you need them if they cannot its time to move on there is no reason for ugly or poorly fitting dentures it takes the right dentist
