Wow you filmed on an absolutely perfect day in Denver! This was a very crisp and clear day with no smog, sometimes Denver can have bad pollution. But it is truly a beautiful place to live, I wish I could see one of these 4K videos in 2018 since Union Station has added TONS of new buildings and we have recently seen the completion of a new 40 story Class-A tower that has changed our skyline considerably.

Moving to Cheyenne WY from West NY for my job was a tough decision for me. Then i found Denver south of me about 90 mins. Heard that it was crowded and congested. But i went down one Saturday to the downtown area, and frankly was surprised with the ease of walking around the city. As with any big city of course its congested and crowded and expensive. But which city isn't. I loved Denver and i keep coming back to it , love the museums, the theatres and the events. Plus having Fort Collins even near to me kind of adds flavor to it. However the one thing that bugs me is the i-25 weekend traffic which is just sickening.

+Rahul Baidya I've visited Denver probably a dozen times (it was a staple in our family summer road trips growing up, and then I've been there several times as an adult) and I know what you're talking about with I-25. It sucks! But you're right, other parts can be really nice. On the trip that we filmed this video I was able to see a good bit of the city and it was fun.

Paul Ji from what I understand Denver has a ban on drones in city parks. Outside of that I’m not sure what the limitations are from the city’s point of view. For FAA regulations it’s basically avoid airports, don’t fly over people, keep the drone in sight, and stay below 400 feet. There are more, but that’s the gist.

BRO how did you get over coors field it wont let me fly my phantom 3 near it?

I was using the Phantom 2, and also was filming around a year ago when restrictions on drones weren't so unreasonable. Now you can hardly fly anywhere without some pushback. But it does surprise me it won't let you fly over Coors Field because even under current FAA regulations they don't prohibit all flights over stadiums...just before, during, and after a big event.

For any computerized UAV after 2015, you have to get special permission from coors field and any nearby airport to fly in restricted areas. Theyll give you instructions on how to tweak the software so you can fly in said restricted area. However, if you manage to get into the restricted zone without their permission, and you get caught, it could land you a hefty fine or some serious prison time depending on the level of restriction placed on the area

Hi there, love your work! I have been using a friend's Blade Chroma 1080p drone, and am falling in love! I do photography and videography, so it is very apppealing to me! I am loooking at either the DJI Phantom 3 Professional or the Phantom 4 (Probably the phantom 4) to get for myself, just a few questions: My friend's drone has a built-in screen on the controller that gets a live feed from the (disappointingly low-quality) camera via wifi. I can't fly the drone farther than 230 feet up, or very far away from the controller, because the controller loses video feed and connection to the camera and I worry the drone will lose actual communication with the controller. How good are the phantoms in this respect? I expect the phantom 4's camera to be significantly better than the Chroma's crappy camera (similar to the quality in this video?), but what about video monitoring signal range, actual controlling range, etc. Also, I just want to make sure that the Phantoms (again, specifically the Phantom 4) have pan and tilt control of the gimbal; the Chroma only has pan control and it is a terrible dial on the controller that is very hard to work with, and between the ~10 second delay from controller to drone, and the ~5-8 second delay from drone camera back to controller, is almost unusable. yes, both the 3 and 4 do those things The phantoms use a tablet or cell phone for the live stream and camera controls. Depending which ever version you purchase, the resolution is 1080p, 2.5K, or 4k

+SuperFish240 I don't remember there being any noticeable difference. I'm sure technically there was, but I was still able to get what I normally expected from one battery (12-15 minutes). This was on the Phantom 2, but now the flight time is double that on the Phantom 4's.

Armand Piecuch I detect a slight hint of passive aggressiveness. You could just say "You shouldn't be flying in some of those places" since I'm pretty sure that's what you're getting at. But to answer your question: I didn't get permits to film at any of these locations. I filmed this several years ago before there were so many regulations in place. As far as I know I wasn't violating any then-current regulations. You may be curious about flying near stadiums, since there seems to be a lot of confusion around that. According to FAA regulations you're actually only restricted from flying around stadiums when there's a TFR (temporary flight restriction) in place, which are usually about an hour before a major event, to 3-4 hours after. Outside of those times, it's generally okay to fly around stadiums. Whether or not DJI recognizes that distinction and allows flight during those off times is something I don't know. I've heard of people not being able to fly DJI products around stadiums at all. Do you fly around Denver? How is it with permitting and/or regulations now?

I only do drone shoots when the client hiring me is on site and deals with all the necessary paperwork, but I would love to get general city footage to have as a video library of sorts. I know there are a lot more regulations in place and even though I am licensed through the FAA, I like to make sure my t’s are crossed and my i’s are dotted.

Wich drone did you use , what settings and what filters ?

I filmed this three years ago, so I used a DJI Phantom 2 with a GoPro Hero 4. Definitely old tech, but I was still happy with the results I got. The settings were pretty standard, I used the GoPro color profile because I think the flat profile was too difficult to get bright colors out of. I filmed in 4K, and I used the Cloudy white balance setting. And I used an ND filter (maybe an ND4 or ND8, I can't remember) to cut down on the brightness so that it would slow down the shutter speed and help make the footage smoother and not jittery.

Yes, it doesn't have the same color depth as newer stuff, but it still isn't half bad, I think. I just ordered the DJI Mavic 2 (the last drone I bought was a Mavic Pro 1 about a year ago, and it had already been out for six months, so it's been awhile since I've had a new drone in my hands), and I'm excited to make some new city videos with it.

I didn't, but I filmed this three years ago when drones weren't so restricted. I'm not sure what would be necessary now to do this. I know you'd need to avoid flying when there are any major events going on at the stadiums, but beyond that I'm not sure what restrictions the city would have. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Considering this was done for commercial purposes, (as seen on a realtor website) that would mean you would need a 107 and therefore it does fall under the FAA regulations. Also, Denver does have a ban on flying drones in any of their parks.
