What a great look back at one of my favorite railroads! I first visited the Grande in the mid 70s when I visited a buddy who was working for the BN in Denver, then about the time of this video with a fellow D&H dispatcher, the next trip was with Marshall Beecher in the mid 90s. From the canyons to the mountain grades, it was a heck of a ride!

Having grown up in Colorado I spent many of summers chasing the Grand on both the Moffat and Tennessee pass lines, Railroading doesn't get any better then this! I scorn the UP for closing the Tennessee pass line down as it will never be active again, attempts have been made but the tree huggers block it, should have never been closed in the first place.

It's gonna be orange, black and silver. The engine will be black and orange and the carriages will be orange, black and silver and the caboose will be orange. And I am gonna make a scenery, make the layout. I am gonna have Hills, Trees, a lake, railway crossings with LED lights, signal lights, a station, buildings and a gravel company and I am gonna weather the structures and that will make it look realistic and blend into the scenery and with the Bachmann Nickel Silver Ho scale Eze track I am gonna weather the track and ballast the track and this will add more realism to the layout and it will make it look realistic. And I am gonna have another train running around my layout on the same track as the Denver & Rio Grande Western and that will have 7 Cars and 1 caboose like the other one I was talking about and that one is gonna be Pennsylvania Railroad with Locomotive 2264 with 5 boxcars such as Santa Fe, Erie, Pennsylvania, and Northern Pacific, 2 tank cars such as Conoco and Amoco and a Northern Pacific Caboose. and I am gonna have some trains parked on the sidings at gravel unit and under the gravel company, I am gonna have 3 Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Coal cars parked under the gravel company, 3 cars next to the Gravel Company such as a Union Pacific boxcar, a Union Pacific tank car and a Santa Fe tank car, I am gonna have a Penn Central Locomotive 8146 with 2 Rock Island boxcars separate from the locomotive and I am gonna have 4 locomotives parked on the passing siding such as Denver & Rio Grande Western 5944 and 5941, Penn Central 3144 and Pennsylvania 7194

The Rio Grande would add an additional locomotive to Amtrak trains that required assistance over the mountains. From what we saw, passenger trains operating with three good order Amtrak units didn’t get help. Thanks for the comment.
