The movie wasn't making fun of black folks. They were making fun of method acting. His impression of a black man was that of a really cool and badass black man. That's why his character gets called out for it the whole movie 🤣. I'm sure that people that have a problem with Tropic Thunder haven't actually watched the movie or they have a lousy sense of humour.

That's the problem with this country now, it's lost its sense of humor. We used to make fun of ourselves and other people and be able to laugh about it, as long as it wasn't too personal. Soon as we started making everything about the color of our skin, it became thin and weak and no one can joke about anything that has to do with it. The thing about that line is it's a "real" line. He plays an Australian guy that gets casted to play a black guy. So if it was just a movie script to the actor he played then the line should have just been "I'm a dude disguised as another dude". So it's a subtle nod to the audience that he's a person in real life playing a fictional character disguised as another fictional character.

RDJ, portrayed a better Black American than any Caribbean or African actor could have ever portrayed in film. We cannot relate to seeing a Caribbean or African portray us in a film, it comes off as a minstrel. Strangely enough, RDJ portrayal was spot on and funny as hell😂. The vernacular, mannerisms, and personality was spot on and relatable to most Black Americans. I guess it’s an American thing. Black America saw their average uncle June-Bug. Uncle June-Bug talked a lot of $hit and didn’t care who liked it or not😂 Uncle June-Bug was a retired Veteran who served in the Vietnam war.
