As a black man I love Tropic Thunder. I watch it several times a year. To me I actually thought that RDJ's character was the coolest of them all because half the time I'd forget that it was RDJ. The movie wasn't making fun of black folks. They were making fun of method acting. His impression of a black man was that of a really cool and badass black man. That's why his character gets called out for it the whole movie 🤣. The thing about that line is it's a "real" line. He plays an Australian guy that gets casted to play a black guy. So if it was just a movie script to the actor he played then the line should have just been "I'm a dude disguised as another dude".
