I picked Dubois, but I'll be honest, I wasn't confident in the pick and I think I was largely picking because of my dislike of Hrgovic more than anything. Plus my love for underdog stories of course 😄 I also thought he'd win via decision, definitely didn't see it being stopped in his favor. Even without the cuts I think he was on the way to a KO win. Dubois shocked quite a lot of people tonight! ...And has made himself Usyk's mandatory again in the process 😆 Doubt that rematch happens personally, and more than that I'm actively hoping against it since it's pointless, but hopefully the IBF are happy with having an Interim champ til after the Undisputed rematch happens. Would be nice to see a defense with all the required titles on the line, especially since the last time that happened wasn't just in the three belt era, it was the early 90s! Although given all the shenanigans from the alphabet organizations, I guess I should just be happy he's got to hold onto all of them for two weeks 😆

For me this is too hard to call - Zhang is the better boxer, and seems to have the better chin, but unless he can stop Wilder before he gasses out I think that Wilder will have a lot of opportunities to close the show in the mid to late rounds. Then there is also the question of whether these fighters will want to be taking risks, maybe this is a tentative borefest with neither fighter wanting to get slept. So it's 50/50, but I expect that come fight night it won't look 50/50 whoever takes the W.

how does zhang have the better chin? zhang is only able to absorb shots on his guard, but sometimes he drops his guard and gets caught with stuff. we havent truly seen zhang's chin been tested, but we have seen wilder get up on several occasions against fury and withstand a devastating overhand right by parker.

Against joyce there was a lot of risk coming zhangs way but he got the job done, I can't see this being any different tbh I think wilder if anything will be a easier night

Joyce has the highest power shot connection percentage against him of any of the HW division who were in contention - or he did last time I checked. He also spent his fights against Zhang trying to get past his active guard, and being incredibly unsuccessful doing so - Wilder doesn't pump out a jab like Joyce, he doesn't move like Joyce and he doesn't fight like him. They aren't comparable.

@@jakethefightnerd Parker ain't exactly heavy handed, but he was landing some excellent, powerful shots against Zhang and at worst he seemed to momentarily lose balance for a second. Hrgovic was landing heavy on Zhang in multiple rounds, including when Zhang was already exhausted, and he took them really well. So yes, Zhang has a good chin.

I agree, I’ve seen tendencies of people discrediting Parker, which I think is a shame. The way he neutrilized Wilder’s right hand and the way he fought through adversity against Zhang and won is impressive! Let’s remember also that Parker was an underdog in both fights! Credit where credit is due… Not sure about Wilder v Zhang and That’s What I love about that fight. I think it’ll come down to who has the best chin, but based on their last performances I’m leaning against Zhang but without any certainly. Great video!!

I’ve always said from his early fights, that Parker displays everything you want in a fighter: He’s busy He’ll fight anyone He’ll travel His biggest problem was he could never settle into a style that suited him. Now he’s seemingly doing that, he’s becoming a complete fighter. Idk if he’ll ever capture another world title, but look at his resume-can’t deny that.

I completley agree with every point your brought up exept the point of the knock out. If u ask me, if fury a historically much lighter puncher than zhang (and lighter funnier enough) can put ur lights out cold, i think that zhang will be able to decimate wilder with only a few punches. I dont believe wilder will be able to take more than a handfull of zhangs punches. Outside of the possiblity that zhang only throws like 5 punches in the first 4-5 rounds, i don't see it going past 5. I think zhang will put his lights out as u described it out of no where. My pick before I watched this video was Zhang, but since I've watched it I've had to edge towards Wilder due to your pick rate - no offence. 😀 But I do worry that Wilder has never won against a genuine Top 10 heavyweight, and when he said in his last bout he forgot to throw punches it's a concern. Great break down. I think Wilder will win this due to speed on the jab. Everyone forgets Wilder's issue is footwork he needs to be on the center line with his opponent staying there. That is why Parker shut him down the same way as Fury, butevery time the opponent doesn't do this Wilder set up a huge right off a jab.

Excellent review and breakdown. Good work. Pretty much see it similar. Very intriguing match with lots of possibilities. Sometimes these matches of huge bangers don't play out the way we expect, they can be slow and wary affairs, with both realizing they are dangerously close to being ko'd by a single punch at any second. Both these guys carry their power late, are always dangerous. Fighting a giant powerful lefty with fast hands and decent skills is a real challenge for Wilder. And a guy like Wilder who can close space so quick with deadly power gives Zhang a lot to consider. With all the huge paydays and great opportunities unfolding due to this massive Saudi influence both fighters should be bringing their best overall A game. Heavyweight boxing is now positioned to just explode in popularity with all the exciting matches finally happening. The Saudi money is making all the big guys want to get rich throwing down with anyone and everyone like never before. Zhang is a two fisted puncher, Wilder more of a single fisted puncher, so I'll go with Big Bang. But what do I know, I ain't no Nostradamus here.

A balanced view as always and I agree - Zhang should win this. I think Wilder has shot his bolt - if we're honest, the trilogy of fights with Fury really finished him since he lost all three. Despite his age and heavy legs, Zhang is a vastly superior boxer. I think this is all over by round 5. Wilder needs to jab his way in ...but he doesn't have a jab! And Parker deserves a crack at the Fury Usyk winner!

Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang - Who will win? This fight feels very hard to make a calculated prediction on as there are so many questions that there is hard to answer from both sides - specally Wilder's. Overall Zhang is the better boxer, and have the better chin, but he is slow and his numbers are low in punches and is at an very advanced age for boxers. Zhang's best chance is thrown unless he can stop Wilder before he run out of gas. But can Zhang KO Wilder? Can he find him in his jerky over-body movement? and can Zhang see when Wilder is loading up his right hand before it is fired? Deontay Wilder is not as we know a well-rounded boxer who have anything special beside his mighty right hand and his somewhat jerky-movement. He is faster and have better stamina witch are tools enough here to make the fight a "W". I think have in this time- and moment A LOT of golden opportunities with this fight to end the fight in the mid to late rounds, but as said, it all despends on what version of Wilder we will see here. Wilder haven't acted like he is really hungry ever since losing to Tyson Fury and only been engaged in 2 fights, where we last time he was out-boxed and out-willed by Joseph Parker (who most believed would be cannon fodder). Does Wilder have enough hunger in his belly to win this big fight? Does Wilder still possess a killer instinct to go the tough walk id needed? I can't honestly pick a winner here as it all despends on what Wilder we will see. Zhang we know more of. But if I imagine myself a slight similar case then we have to take the Wilder-Ortiz fights, but Ortiz was again a much more well schooled boxer who throwed much more punches and Wilder was in his prime, but it is the closest comparison we got. In that case Wilder will weather the storm and find the oppertunity to fire off his killer right and BOOM there goes Zhang unless Zhang has a granite solid head.
