Overstock.com is now Bed, Bath & Beyond

Overstock is now Bed, Bath & Beyond. The company swapped its name out for the now-defunct housewares chain on Tuesday. Customers searching for either retailer online will wind up on the same landing page, where both companies’ logos will be displayed for the next few months.
Though Overstock’s inventory - mainly furniture - falls more under the “beyond” umbrella, Johnson said the company has expanded its offerings in the bed and bath categories. A legacy Overstock customer will notice more small appliances, such as toasters and stand mixers, and bedding options, he added.
But there are some products that won’t be available on the website. Since Bed Bath & Beyond shuttered all its brick-and-mortar stores and Overstock is solely online, Johnson said that it’s doing away with single, low-cost items that “probably [don’t] make sense for us to ship,” such as Tide Pods, K-Cups and one-off orders like a $3 spatula. Instead, customers will be able to buy a set of spatulas.

It was very weird I always felt like bed bath beyond was a furniture store but the way that they felt was like walking down the furniture aisle at one of those stores that sells lots of things like Walmart or Fred Meyer. While we're on the weird feelings topic Big lots feels like the Dollar store equivalent of a furniture store. But also like Target it has a very very tiny section of groceries.

Practically all brick and mortar stores are at risk of going or already have filed for bankruptcy. BBB has good brand recognition and I don't think most people know what happened so I could see it being good for business, especially if Overstock isn't an appropriate name anymore.

@@Donnah1979they filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy meaning all values and assets are to be sold to the highest bidder so the original bed bath and beyond, and buybuybaby are out of business. BB&B last day was June 30-31. BBBY last day was July 30-31. The only standing parties of this corporation are the internals such as key figures,lawyers etc. to work through their debts and what not. (Coming from a former bed bath employee during the bankruptcy process)

I think it went in chapter 7 bankruptcy around April, it may have been earlier. And it went out of business in June, maybe July. At the moment any stores still open will be selling anything they can. Once they are empty, they will be gone. Overstock bought the rights to the name, and customer data too i think. Kind of what happened with toys r us. It went out of business, then macys bought the rights to the name, and put the name over their toy section.

i miss my bed bath and beyond. i have a very visceral memory attached to it at my local mall, which now replaced the store. basically i was walking around in it with my mom, and the smell of the store made me feel super nauseous. it was to the point where i knew i was going to barf and so i strategically found a corner of the store that was empty and couldn’t hold it in anymore and vomited. now whenever we pass by the new store that replaced it, i point at it and say “no one knows that’s the place and exact same floor where i vomited as a kid,” and my mom just laughs.
