Departure of STENA DANICA, Göteborg (Stena Line)

Funny (and great) that Stena is still holding on to this classic ferry. I last traveled with her between Denmark and Sweden in the early 1990s. The sister ship Jutlandica was already in worse condition then.

My guess is that the Stena Danica will be replaced by the coming electric ferry Stena Electra approx in 2027 and Stena Danica will then be transferred to the Halmstad-Grenå route. I worked aboard the Stena Jutlandica for two periods. The summer 1986 as deckhand and in okt 1993 as able seaman. She was in a good shape until she was reflagged to British flag and transferred to the English Channel. Lack of maintenance and a unfortunate collision with the breakwater in Hirtshals, Denmark sealed her fate. She arrived for scrapping in Alang, India in 2011.

I am from Ireland. I was in Cityvarvet in Gothenburg in 1985 and I met Angelina, who was working on my ship. She was beautiful but I never got her number and when I came home from drydock we never saw each other again. I would love to meet her again.
