It's been a few comments since someone mentioned this, so I will do it now: This was the song that Dave sang to indirectly audition for the band. He was singing it at a jam session with another band as a guest, and Vince Clarke (and possibly Martin and Fletch) heard him. The rest is history.

I saw Depeche Mode tonight in Dallas and the song is even better live in person. It was super emotional, especially hearing all the fans singing together with Dave; truly a beautiful send off from the band especially Dave who loved Bowie dearly. If I’m not mistaken, Dave was asked to join DM back in the day because Vince Clarke overheard him singing this song. What a way to come full circle. Also, this song turns 40 today. Dave really loved Bowie and this tribute brings tears to my eyes. Also, Martin has had that guitar for almost half his life. That means a lot.

@Donkey Punch Knock-Out that's actually hilarious. He hits a higher note in "Should be Higher" from Delta Machine.

Respekt.... Richtig Geil 👍

THE best cover of Heroes! What a fantastic way to honor David Bowie! This is one of the many reasons I love Depeche Mode. They bring so much joy to us fans and they will live on forever in their music just like David Bowie does.

I can honestly say Depeche Mode is my all time favorite band that I have been enjoying since 1983 and seeing in concert since 1986. But I digress, I love these videos where David and Martin show their range! And hats off to David Bowie who is one of the worlds recognized all time best. Maybe this will finally give Depeche Mode a well deserved spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame?

Starting at 4.10 this is the first time I have ever heard Dave Gahan hit higher notes. Sounds amazing! I wished he sang in that octave more often! Great rendition of Heroes! David Bowie would be moved.

@chicobond897 жыл бұрын
