The one tour that absolutely needed a DVD release, and it never happened. Short of being at the 101st show, this tour was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. From the first beat to the last, absolutely life changing.

I went to the Wembley arena about a month after this (I'm sure the gig was in November 1990 but I could be wrong). This was the first gig that I travelled to outside of my home city. When Personal Jesus was played it was incredibly moving and felt very religious. When the cries of 'Reach Out and Touch Faith' came on the lights went up bright and everyone had their arms outstretched to the stage. I've heard it played a few times since but nothing like it was that night with regard to atmosphere. Funniest visual moment was seeing Martin on the back screen hoisted down in an Angel costume.

6 days after my first show. my brother slept in freezin conditions outside the Globe Arena, he was 13 and WV was his third DM tour. I was 7 so it was mom's first Depeche experience as well. my brain is ad/hd-asperger so i remember every moment of the show. My first religious euphoria. Since then, I've traveled the world for them, The 2nd Moscow night would have ended my life if it wasn't for my daughter. I know that Depeche Mode is the reason why there is a universe.

The Berlin concert in Deutschlandhalle in November 1990 was my first DM concet I ever saw. As a teenager from Prague I had no money and was let inside thanks to Andy Franks, their tour manager whom I had known from the 101 movie. I asked him just 15 minutes before the boys went on stage. He appeared in front of the venue and I told him I was from Czechoslovakia. He then asked how many ppl from czechoslovakia were there waiting without tickets. I counted 14. And he gave us 14 backstage passes

A VHS which could've been remastered into a BluRay. Best tour DM ever did and they didn't make a professional recording, I say shame on the tour director!
@ATXviIIIe7 жыл бұрын
Dave didn't seem to be at top form during the Violator tour. I think the stage limited Dave's movement because his space was smaller. Also, DM was so big they might have been somewhat bored during this tour. Dave was frustrated with the sound of the band not changing and he demanded something harder and deeper and Martin came up with the Devotional songs. I definitely wish there was a Violator tour video release but I think the band has decided against it for various reasons.

captaingish and what's worse is that their TV appearances are mimed. What a shame.
@TheEmpyrean159 жыл бұрын
There is some 'pro' footage and excerpts but it seems to be low budget with weird camera angles and editing. Plus, the soundboard recordings from World Violation Tour contain none or very little crowd noise, so songs like Never Let Me Down Again and Everything Counts lose all of their 'magic'. So that's obviously one of the reasons that Depeche Mode never released the footage, except some excerpts. Also, Alan said that another reason why WVT video wasn't released was because it would have been too soon after 101 and everyone would have thought that DM were trying too hard to increase their status and milk some money from their fans.
@captaingish9 жыл бұрын
Ah, thanks for the clarification

I've seen every tour since Construction Time Again and loved pretty much all of them. Except this one. I just didn't have much fun. Looking at this now, though, I can't for the life of me remember (or understand) why hehe. Maybe I was just being an angsty young contrarian. On the other hand it might also explain why my head exploded into fireworks of pure pleasure when I witnessed the legendary SOFAD tour a few years later. A show which remains, to this day, the best concert experience of my life. Bar none. Great upload. I thouroughly enjoyed watching this. =)

24 years, somewhat reliving the experience, since I attended this concert at Festhalle Frankfurt, and two more were to follow from DM. My first concert with DM and one of my most memorable concerts to this day. After Alan Wilder left, I gradually parted with DM as well since I loved the industrial sound, not so much the way they progressed into as yet another rock band with guitar rifts.

These guys actually invented the whole new world of music that not many of the mainstream idiots picked up, but some did partially. It's kinda electronic classic music. It's the music that can involve any kinds of instruments and sound modern. The one thing that still makes them very in at all times. Not many people picked it up.
