Haniya Fathima im not sure i understand your question but regarding my period, i did have period for entire 3 months and only stopped after the contraceptive wore off, in the 4th month my period returned to normal but my breasts became so swollen while on my period, another reason not to take depo provera i guess

Took the shot for nine months and the whole nine months I had an ongoing period, my emotions were completely out of whack (I cried because I dropped a Dorito on the floor) and some of the worst cramps ever. I was extremely mean all the time, gained tons of wait and got depressed. Do your research, it’s not for everyone. Also don’t let your doctor tell you “just try it one more time” because I heard that all three times with no changes.

@@azul8437 after 2 months of stopping it, the bleeding stopped but my periods were heavily irregular for months later. If you think it’s right for you, try it but if you experience this immediately tell your doctor and stop taking.

i really wanted depo to work for me. the side effects weren’t major for me; i got a lot of nausea, didn’t gain or lose weight; had major mood swings, but the worst part is ive been on my period for eight months. i am finally getting off of it now and i’m about to try the nuvaring. the bleeding has been so annoying and it isn’t spotting, it’s a light period. it’s been nonstop since october and it’s now may. it’s just been rough and i’m happy to finally be off of it.

I got my first and LAST injection June 5th. Now it’s almost October. At first it was great but then 2-3 weeks later I experienced horrible hormonal problems and suicidal thoughts. And I also started bleeding. I have been bleeding for 3 months now. And it isn’t stopping. It has been causing me constant: fatigue, bleeding, stomach aches, hot flashes, lower back aches, etc. please really look into this injection before getting it. And then months go by, I'd get lazy to go to the clinic and I'd miss my appointment. Or I'd just stop completely. When I stopped the shot, my period would take about 3 months to come back. I had this for a year never again will get this!! I had an allergic reaction to it For all 11 months on my face I was in so much pain my face would bleed and crack and get scaly super dry nothing would help! I went to a dermatologist and they told me to get off the depo shot and even after I was off of it it still took me another eight months for my face to clear. When i had the implanon my period was non stop for 7 months. I had it taken out and then started on the needle. I had no side effects and my periods stopped completely during the use of the needle. Everyones different, just give each a try but be patient

I was bleeding for 3-4 months straight every day. Lost weight. Felt lethargic. Swollen breasts. Had mysterious large white clumps after experiencing severe period cramps that looked like miscarriage. My endometrium was irritated due to constant bleeding. Gyno tried to say it’s ‘normal’. Another gyno told to stay off birth control at all costs, especially depo due to it’s heavy side effects. Depo was, apparently, first promoted in African countries. Apparently, it makes you more prone to getting AIDS. Go figure, what’s the true purpose of the drug!

Wished i had never taken it. I started depo provera in feb. of 2017 and had periods on it off and on (although i don't remember much of it because i was on it for 1 year and 7 months) and i stopped in august of 2018, then in march of the same year i got my first period off depo and had them for 5 months (august being my 5th month with a period post-depo, and the cycles ranged from 21 days to 35 ( the 35 being the last time i had my period) and i haven't bled since, and have been trying to get pregnant with no luck. ive been off the shot for 14 months and still cannot conceive and haven't bled for almost 3 months.. i wouldn't recommend this shot to anyone

I took this shot and didn’t think it will cause harmful side effects for me. I was so wrong. I have had my period for months straight.. I have horrible anxiety and depression from it. I have these horrible headaches. I completely do not feel like myself. The 3 months ended for me and I have been off it for 2 months and the bleeding for weeks is still going on. I've had my period for almost 3 weeks now. Please Please really consider the side effects for this birth control options ladies. I would not wish these side effects on anyone. The birth control pills for me honestly did not give me such harsh side effects such as the shot.

Long periods are some of the side effects but it eventually goes away. The doctor mentioned it in the video as well. Every woman reacts differently to it. Other than the long periods, it works well😉

Majorie Daka The severe anxiety is very real! It worked well for me for many years though. All of a sudden my mind changed. I’m talking about very severe panic attacks. It almost costed me the job I love so much the panic attacks were that bad. I’m not trying to scare anyone, there’s no reason to worry, but do keep a close eye on your mood. It could change like it did for me. It took me almost a year to realize it was the shot. I don’t want anyone to have to go through that for so long like I did. That’s why I’m commenting this. Stay with the shot of you aren’t having problems. Just be aware if things start to change. I am 100% better now that I’m off the shot. I came so close to having to be put on antidepressants, & anti-anxiety drugs. I fought it so hard. It would only be really bad for me two weeks after my injections, & last one-two weeks, but it was a horrible two weeks. I had to make myself go to work, & I love my job. I would be absolutely terrified of going to work for some reason. I would shake uncontrollably. I would cry. I would feel doom, dread, & fear. Thank God that’s all behind me now!

Everybody is different, but for me 0/10 Do not recommend. I got my first shot February 17. I started bleeding March 28th and am still bleeding as of May 3rd. It hasn’t been heavy everyday, but it’s enough to interfere with life. I started growing a lot of hair on my ears and my face has gotten fuzzier. Thankfully it is really light, fine hair. Since the whole point for me was to reduce bleeding, I’d call it a fail.

I’ve been using depo since august 2019, so a little over a year. I was spotting and bleeding at least every other day for 11 months. But now, I haven’t had a period in like 3 months at all. I never noticed side effects but I do have some issues that I am concerned may be related to it. I am always pretty irritable and within the last 2 months I noticed my hair is getting very thin. Also I never experienced period pain while taking the shot, which used to be a major problem for me. And no weight gain that I noticed had occurred. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

It worked really well for me for about 3 years. Then, either because I developed my autoimmune thyroid condition (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) around the same time, or because I added testosterone as part of my gender transition, the progesterone suddenly was giving me horrible side effects. I'm not sure if it increased my intestinal permeability (I also have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), or did something else to my body, but since then, I began having adrenaline dysfunction, so I was basically in a heightened state 24/7, as if I was exercising or having a panic attack, even though nothing was stressing me out. I couldn't get to sleep easily and would have such severe night sweats I would constantly wake up drenched and freezing even though I was overheating. (Also waking up from the adrenaline dysregulation, obviously.) I didn't feel like my body was able to repair itself- If I did anything, the minor injuries from exercise or daily life would keep compounding until my body would force me to suddenly go to sleep to decrease the inflammation. I would have really bad fibromyalgia and brain fog, and fatigue. I would feel out of breath for no reason and my neck and throat would be sore and inflamed (lymph nodes and thyroid.) I became really sensitive to any sensory input on top of what was going on in my body. My mood was very volatile at times because of the constant physical strain. Stopping gluten and doing the Anti-Inflammatory diet helped but mostly I just had to wait for my body to readjust after the progesterone left my system. I can confirm it was the depo-provera causing the issue for me because I went back on testosterone several times since, without the progesterone, and was fine. I recently tried depo-provera again (a really unwise decision...) and now I'm having the same horrible symptoms starting up again. I am trying to keep inflammation down and rest way way more than anything I do, so I can hopefully keep ahead of the symptoms. If anyone reading has similar conditions to me, I recommend avoiding depo-provera. Which is unfortunate because I did not have any other birth control options. Now that I'm 30 and transitioning, I'm finally able to get the tubal ligation ( well, removal), that I've been asking for for fifteen years. I hope anyone else out there is able to get what they need and stay safe.

I experienced the opposite from what most commentors are posting. Never taking depo ever again. Lost my period a few months after I started taking it. Was on depo for 2 years. I have bine on this shot for probebly a year. I have always bine a heavy bleeder and I would have so bad cramps I would almost pass out. So that’s my reasoning for bing on it, wen I started I got bleeding for many weeks but in less amounts (hallelujah 😂) after 3 moths I got my second shot, I would still get bleeding here and there so I got a bit wordy it wouldent work on me. After a noter 3 moths my bleeding was only sometimes spots and slowly going away, bearly any pain. After again 3 moths all plain and bleeding was gone WOHO! Reason it took so long for me was because I was a weary heavy bleeding, like aaaaa lot. I do recommend doing this, but start out with the shots to see if you have any bad reactions to it or not. If your having everything going well you can chose to see if you want that tiny implant that last for 3 - 5 years. I hope my comment helped someone out ❤️

Nan Bread it can cause infertility up to 2 years or sub fertility meaning miscarriages because it messes with hormones that badly usually low progesterone happened to me. July 2016 one shot July 2018 December 2018 miscarriages...besides that I experienced horrible things within those 2 years I was perfectly healthy before pregnancy great weight and ate everything. I was 6 weeks postpartum when the doctor brainwashed me to take it I wasn’t sure but I was young and ignorant. I experienced horrible constipation for several months and cramps...scary mood swings, depression then in January 2017 I got horrible food poisoning my immune system was already weakened that I didn’t recover from it and suffered post infectious ibs then the acne and cyst started I was fatigued loosing weight no doctor was helping...I was hopeless so I started researching and went through many trial and errors to be close to recovered today. Then in 2018 i was still not gaining weight I’d still flare my acne got better but I had low progesterone that can be caused by birth control. Anyways it’s not worth it please anyone who is reading this birth control is still rather new doctors want to control our bodies they don’t care about our health!

I just got on the depo. Im 40 years old and 5 months post op gastric sleeve. Oh and im a mother of 1 child who is 18 years old. I do not want any more kids and i don't want any more periods. So i got on the depo shot. My period literally lasted 22 days🤦🏽‍♀️ and i became moody and emotional and im not a moody or emotional person. So it was getting crazy. So i decided to get on estrogen pills to help balance my hormones while on depo. It worked i was on estrogen pills for just 3 days when i started notice a change while on depo. I notice that my mood swings and emotional state came back to normal and my period that was rolling heavy for 22 days suddenly dramatically slowed down and ive been good. No weight gain and thats because of the gastric sleeve so ive been losing weight and no hair loss either. This is my experience on the depo.

I've been celibate since my so called marriage ended in 2018. I also do don't date. I have sickle cell disease so having periods puts me into a pain crisis. I stayed off of it until I saw my period coming today. Actually I hadn't got it since December and my periods were back in March but super heavy. It affects everyone differently. I'm only 4'11 114.5lbs but a lot of women say they have gained weight from it and always ask me how I stay fit but I barely even workout. But anyway just sharing my experience with you all. I am currently on the Depo shot, and I do not like it at all. I was on it when I was a teenager, haven’t felt any side effects. I’m 30 now, and I’m experiencing awful side effects. Every day, I wake up, I feel incredibly tired and sick, my head constantly hurts throughout the day up until I get home and lay down, I’m constantly having anxiety like symptoms and feeling depressed, I feel weak with little to no energy. And as far as my cycles, I’ve been on it since January 7th, it’s the 18th now, so almost two weeks. I’m constantly irritable. And this isn’t like me. This will be my last time getting this shot. It’s having me in a physical and emotional wreck. I do not recommend this shot to anyone.

Hi everyone.! This is my 2nd time on the shot. And the first shot It was amazing. No side effects which was Awesome. You will experience this for a the first couple of months randomly and your period will completely stop, I got my first shot in March of 2018 and stopped spotting and everything in august, haven’t bled at all since! I was on depo 19 years ago for a year. I moved States and couldn't take it when I needed to. I now have an 18 year old, since the age of 8 I've been having issues with her, and at puverty the emotional problems increased for her to the point that she has struggled with suicide for the past four years and every time I pray about it, this shot comes to mind. I have 3 other kids, 2 before depo and one 4 years after depo and my first 2 are healthy as can be but even my 14 year, after poverty as well, has developed ticks or as they are diagnosing him a mild case of tourrettes syndrome but I have to mention I also have so.e ticks just not as strong as his. The shot takes a few months to get out the system. I looked it up online and it says it can take 6-12 months until the women can be pregnant after the shot. This form of birth control makes it a bit hard to get pregnant right after you stop using it.
