Nice review. Deponia is one of my favourite ever game series, I've played the games multiple times in both English and German. But there's still some issues like you said. The cryptic item puzzles for example. I can see why they would potentially even ruin the game for some. However, I think they do make sense in a weird, roundabout way. Deponia is a giant trash heap and so people have to make do with what they find. Rufus even more so since he's a tinkerer. On a more subjective note, I don't mind running about, just bashing Items together at random since that leads to interesting interaction and item monologues, let's call them. On Rufus'character. You're absolutely right. He is a terrible person with him hitting peak a..holery in Goodbye. BUT the people around him do condemn him for it and there are consequences for his actions. Him losing Toni, getting arrested, having his friends turn on him and so on. This doesn't make him a better character but it is also an important part of him. He is a human manifestation of the trash planet he inhabits. He is harsh, unpersonable, dangerous and probably past any point of saving. But this also creates an interesting dynamic for him. He feels he doesn't belong on Deponia when he absolutely thrives in that environment. Instead he dreams of escaping to the nice, friendly and proper Elysium where he couldn't be further from fitting in. Excuse my rambling.

Played the first second and now on the third game it is really good personally although it is really bad with the ambiguity with puzzles like how you need to active spunky goal on Porta fisco I think and but you she doesn't want to go in so you need to active baby goal but you also need to acses a specific dialog option to active spunky goal then you need to pick the right dialog option in order to actually get some important knowledge on how to win teh lottery but to even get to the place with the lottery you need cat food and you need to get these baby dolphins turned into cat food annnddd then you can go in the place where you can get the lottery ticket but teh only way I knew this is because either search up a guide because no one would even think of making baby dolphins jump through a flaming to hoop to get cat food

Ehhhhh.... It all depends on if you're looking to play a point-and-click game. If you are (and you're smarter then me) you'll probably enjoy it! It can still be frustrating at times. haha As a completionist, it's kind of frustrating.

Deponia is clearly an attempt of recreating Discworld. With the good AND the bad parts. But it also add Rufus. And Rufus is the worst protagonist imaginable. Selfish, idiot, crazy, lazy, sexist, sadist, ... A real psychopath. Playing as Rufus is the worst experience a game could offer. The story would have been so much better is Rufus would have been able to progress and become less egomaniac while remaining the crazy suicide man he was.

I've never heard of Discworld! A google search and it looks like crazzzyy, seems very iconic. And I"m with you completely about Rufus, typically in a story the characters should... change, its' that "Heroes journey" story telling method where SOMETHING should happen. But they just hit the big'ol'reset button and Rufus remains insufferable from beginning to end. I love the chaotic nature, but hate the rest of his character.
