Depops offer system should work like eBays, your card is on file and once the seller accepts the offer, the sale goes through automatically. Waiting for the person to finally purchase the item after accepting the offer is the issue. 90% of the time they don't buy.

Great video Loveless! I think vintage, like all markets, fluctuate naturally with other economic cycles. While I do agree that Depop manipulating the algorithm during a historically high sales quarter is pretty wack, sales seem to be down across the board spanning multiple selling platforms; and I think there are two main causes for that. 1. The looming threat of being in a "recession" definitely affects consumer spending habits. Individuals who engage in purchasing vintage clothing more casually might be holding off while times are "tough". Likewise, I do think that there are value shifts within the vintage industry that align with fashion trends at large. It seems like true vintage/Americana/more minimalist piece with high quality textiles sell consistently and (in my own observation) more frequently than they once would. I think this is because a lot of the 90s/Y2K streetwear clothing priced itself high into a bubble and now a lot of sellers are holding onto tees at a high price when the buyer demand might not be able to meet those prices anymore. 2. While I think accessibility for any to be able to take part in the second hand clothing trade is important; there is undoubtedly a large wave of sellers overloading the market for the past 2-3 years. I think that the high influx of volume, especially those who focus on just flipping quantity over quality or unique pieces, flood the market making pieces more hidden and less likely to cross the eyes of buyers. I think both of these things will change in time. The economy at large will recover and sellers will cycle out, but.....idk who knows for sure 😬 Instagram @dutty.vintage (for the giveaway)

Full time seller here, I have completely given up on depop as an app. Even after getting in the top 10 of the world ranking a few weeks in a row the revenue is not really sustainable when compared to how much you can make on eBay. The app is also basically unusable for me and most of my friends due to the crashing and bugs. Not to mention how little the app caters to larger sellers.

Algorithm + Bugs/Crashes of the app have really knock the wind out of my shops sails. I still refresh 3 times a day and I’ve noticed I’m still getting likes and engagement with my refreshed items but so much less then I was getting pre mid October. Over saturation of the market has been a big issue as well but staying consistent with my uploads and diversification of items has helped me with standing out in the sea of vintage sellers who just have shirts. I’ve still got a steady “day job” that I keep to float everything while my vintage business head2wallvtg keeps extra money coming in just in case anything bad might happen, nest egg money.

Honestly the algorithm on Depop has been messing up with my traffic, I used to have many buyers come through the shop, but about a week or two I stopped seeing the traffic. And depop has been slow with informing me with any new notifications or messages, or even offers. Apologies for putting my handle on depop on my previous message, I just felt you would support others by allowing them to also provide a handle, especially when they're supporting your channel and content, and store. I'm a bit older than the Depop demographic (although I first heard about it from Dita Von Tease, so whatever) but I can not stand the interface. The search functionality is so bad. Poshmark is million times better as a buyer/customer. Ebay is still pretty much the gold standard for buying and selling in my opinion. I didn't know that Etsy bought Depop. Next 3 years will be VERY TOUGH moving forward for smaller resellers recession is coming slowly soon it will be blood in the watar. Now, I don't know how valuable my opinion is given I'm a pretty new vtg reseller. I have been selling since 2020 but only started taking it seriously this year. However, admittedly, I have not been as consistent as I should be for my business to reach its fullest potential. LOTS OF TRIAL AND ERROR! That being said, this year I have consistently made $400-$800+ a month from reselling alone and the ONLY way this is possible given my inconsistent work so far is due to the fact that my business is on multiple platforms. Depop, eBay, Grailed, Mercari, and Poshmark. When I meet a few goals, I am planning on expanding to Etsy. Also, I started dabbling in selling wholesale/mystery/random lots as a way to get rid of sitting inventory and make some quick cash. Win-win. Selling boxes of 15, 25, and 50 shirts has literally made the difference between a $400 month to an $800+ one. Nine times out of ten, if one platform is slow one month, another platform is doing way better to make up for the platform that's slacking. Cross listing is the only method I can think of (that I have tried and have seen great results from) that combats and protects businesses against Depop's shenanigans. It's not foolproof but you'll be ahead/in a better position than the businesses who are relying on one storefront alone. [@khaos_kloset on Depop]

I am a “newer” seller on depop. I started taking it seriously, posting 4 to 10 things a day, about 4 months ago. In the past I had only posted sparingly. I have noticed the bugs a lot and do think that refreshing doesn’t help anymore but I did have my best month of sale from November 10th - December 10th. I believe this is probably because of my consistency and response time to buyers. I curious and eager to see how this month and next month goes and if it’ll go as well as it has. I DONT understand the algorithm however, some things I expect to sell with days of posting have been sitting on my page for weeks/months and I think my pricing is pretty fair, idk though I have mixed feelings about it rn. Been thinking about selling on other platforms simultaneously which I think people should do in general, just a better chance to sell what stock you have. It’s been going well but there’s a lotttt to improve on. anyways thank you for all your advice over the last year or two, I’ve been watching for awhile and you’ve helped me tremendously. Same feelings @ty4ty clothes and handmade earrings. First year was great in spring then it just kept getting worse engagement wise despite new posts, revamps, edits and deals. Just waiting it out again. 😅 i dis notice when i went onto discounts and scrolled it showed the original post date to me on the side rather han the new date i refreshed the post like it says on my actual page. So i'm going to try posting completely new again not copy posts or refresh them! 🩷🌷

I gave up on depop a while ago but Etsy had been slow November and December. My December has been going better but it’s nowhere near the traffic as holidays past. @reversecowgirlvtg is me!

I can’t even describe the flaws with depop now, they still need to fix when an offer is accepted you can see what it actually sold for!!! And not it’s original listing price. Great vid as always, depop @antzfindz

yeah that’s what i’m talking about with the receipt thing! i’m not sure why they changed it and made it so hard to see what the original listing price was lol

My theory is it has to be the influx of new sellers. Soooo many people are starting to resell and thrift 😢 @simipour

Big fan of your channel and shop! Been buying from you since 2019 🤩Its been fun to watch your channel and shop grow. You’ve inspired me to try and sell on Depop myself. Super bummed to see it slowing down and changing so much. Hang in there man 🤘 @griesgraf

I had a shirt with around 1,200 views sell recently, and did see quite a drop in engagement. Less likes and offers since the sale. Interesting that you’ve noticed something similar. @sun_cellar_vintage

I watched your last video and I was curious when you were going to come out with another one because at least for me things have been so stagnant , and nothing has changed. And not to be grim but as far as app development I believe things have got worse 😂 Depop needs to get their priorities straight…. I follow Reddit for updates and the craziest shit i saw was people were obviously complaining about the homepage layout and how it never changes. You’ll see the same items on your “items for you” for WEEEEEEEKS. And then at that, items that you literally have no interest in? There was screenshots of people’s homepage on Reddit that looked IDENTICAL to mine with the same items!!! Like wtf??? Then I go to both my friends phones and check theirs? SAME ITEMS. It’s mad. And on top of it these items and sellers are not of the best quality… showing sellers on the homepage with 3/5 stars.. dirty clothing on their page etc. Depop is really gone 😂 it’s horrible here IG @aphrodite_made (cause I don’t even trust Depop to let me know I got a message 😅)
