A firm purchases two vehicles @₹1,20,000 each on 1st august 2018 to serve for 10 years at the end of which scrap value shall be 25% of the cost value. Another vehicle was bought on 1st oct. 2018 for ₹1,00,000 charging depreciation @10% on original cost method. On 1st april 2019, a new vehicle was added for ₹50,000 to serve for 5 years. On 1st october, 2020 one vehicle bought on 1st august ,2018 was auctioned at 80% of book value. Its accounts are prepared at the end of December. 10% p.a. depreciation is written off on Diminishing Balance Method. On 1st July, 2023 a new machinery was purchased for 6,960 and on the same day a machinery was sold for₹ 1,500 whose value was 2,000 on 1st Jan. 2021 Prepare Machinery Account for the year 2023

first of all u make the machinery account and the write the balance on the debit side: 1) "jan 1,2023 - to balance b/d 38000" 2) "july 1, 2023 - to bank a/c 6960" Total of debit side 44,960 Now to the credit side of the machinery a/c: 1) "on 1st july 2023, by bank a/c 1500" "1st july 2023 by depreciation a/c - 500" Explanation: [ because the machinery costing 2000 was bought on 1st jan 2021 then till 1st jan 2023, the depreciation is 10% of 2000 + 10% of 2000 = 400. But the machinery was sold on 1st july 2023 therefore we need depreciation of 6 more months. So, 200 × 6/12 = 100. So the depreciation obt. Is 500. And there's no profit or loss because the machinery is sold at its book value only that is 1500] Now, on the credit side with date 31st december 2024: 1) "By depreciation account (machinery bought on 1st july 2023 i.e. 6 months) = 6960 ×10/100 ×6/12 = 348" 2) "By depreciation account 3600" [ because the 2000 rs machinery is sold so it will be subtracted from 38000rs = 36000. Now the depreciation on 36000 for 2023 year is its 10% = 3600] 3) "by balance c/d = 39012" Total credit side balance= 44,960 **do tell me if it helped u, because i solved it on my own so i don't know if its right. But if it is right do let me know😇,**
