The real issue in India is that most people don’t see pollution, water crises, and climate change as priorities. As a civil engineering student at IIT (BHU), I took environmental engineering in my 2nd and 3rd years. While our professor is knowledgeable, outdated facilities and a generation gap make it hard for him to inspire us. I studied the subject just to pass and maintain my CGPA, but I genuinely want to learn about solutions-yet no one focuses on that. It’s disheartening, but seeing you, Mohak, and Sarthak Bhaiya discuss these issues gives me hope. Thank you, Bhaiya 💙💙

Hi bhaiya I'm a JEE2025 aspirant and after seeing this news, since the last 2-3 days I researched a bit about the pollution problem in India and turns out, it's a nationwide problem not restricted only to Delhi. Broke my heart into a million pieces.. I also want to do something about it, and gain deeper understanding about the environment, so I'm also considering Environmental engineering if I get lucky enough to attend an IIT. So, I want to ask you, can environmental engineers do anything about this problem that ACTUALLY can make an impact? (instead of just talking about it like everybody else is right now) Or will it be a dead end (career-wise) for one who chooses environmental engineering instead of more mainstream branches?

Hi Mohak Mangal, I’m a fan of your work and have a suggestion regarding the farming sector. Every year, there's a dispute over Cauvery water between two states due to water shortages, mainly because they grow rice and sugarcane, which require a lot of water. Instead, they could grow millets, which need less water. Although the government supports millet farming, it’s not enough. If the government provides millets instead of rice to people, it could save costs and distribute more food. Millets are cheaper to buy than rice, allowing the government to offer larger quantities. This transition can be implemented gradually over a year, and the government can introduce millet recipes in schools. Benefits of Farming and Consuming Millets: Nutritional Profile: Millets: Rich in fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals; lower glycemic index; gluten-free. Rice: Primarily a carbohydrate source; lower in fiber; glycemic index varies. Cultivation and Environmental Impact: Millets: Drought-resistant, require less water, thrive in arid conditions, lower carbon footprint. Rice: Water-intensive, contributes to water scarcity and methane emissions. Yield and Economic Viability: Millets: Lower yields but more profitable in water-scarce regions. Rice: Higher yields with well-established market infrastructure. Taste and Texture: Millets: Nutty flavor, slightly chewy, versatile. Rice: Mild flavor, soft texture, widely consumed. Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your response.

India needs to get over subsistence agriculture. Subsidies should be provided to those moving away from it, so large scale agriculture can be practiced. This will help us use more industrial equipment and scientific methods. Picture this, there is a plot of 70 acres of arable land. In case A, you have 10 farmers, each owning around 6-8 acres. They make approximately 5-8lakhs a year. Now will these guys invest their time and money in newer and more scientific equipment? Absolutely not. They will only think of surviving the next year or maybe saving money for retirement/education of children/marriage of children. Now you have another case, case B. Here we have 2 people owning the entire plot of 70 acres, so 35 each. Each one of them makes around 30-40 lakhs annually. These people have the peace of mind to think about newer more innovative ways to grow crops, and even if they themselves arent educated their children will be highly educated, enough to know newer technologies and ways to farm more efficiently, which in most cases is also good for the environment (ironically). Case B will result in lesser stubble burning.

3:47 !! Exactly. Literally everywhere on online forums, when someone identifies a problem in India, the most upvoted/liked comment would be for stuff like "bro, nobody cares...I have accepted it....just move on" instead of comments that actually discuss possible solutions!! Those are quickly downvoted/unpopular. ITS THE MINDSET GUYS. We are a new generation, more educated, more accessible to information and communication. STOP shutting down people who are raising legitimate concerns! They are often youngsters like you and me. POPULARIZE solution-givers, those who actually wanna do something about it and bring CHANGE.

More education doesn't make you a lawmaker to make such change. And no present lawmakers does anything in this regard. So unless you bring good people in politics it is not even remotely possible.

@speedforce8970Ай бұрын
@@memer-mj9olDisagreed. Education is getting 90% because this is India. Call me a pessimist but a system rotten from the core isn't gonna be solved by discussing issues. People protest about higher salaries in government jobs and pensions more often than actual issues. As soon as you say Muslim, you get all the people's attention. All people care about in this country is money. No one in my entire class studied for knowledge, they all just wanted X or Y profession for the status and money, materialistic people are the majority here and they're paying for it. If someone made a fake paper declaring that air pollution is Muslim's attacks, I bet the politicians will wipe it out in a day so they can win the next election. It's a hopeless deadlock.

But this is not the permanent solution Hope this comment reach more people Yesterday, Within like 1hr , more than 50 crackers busted near my house , people are just so dumb , they don't even know about the situation They are still enjoying this😢 And Also Diwali is not the problem But bursting crackers at a same day in a large amount creates the spikes in delhi pollution
